Great polishes deserve a name....

... because naming a blog post MNY 549 just looks dumb. Why do nail polish brands do this? It doesn't even have to be a good name. Just name it anything!

Anyway, here is a polish I picked up a couple of months ago at a DM Drogerie (German drugstore chain) but this brand is also available in the Netherlands at Etos. It's a polish that immediately sparked my interest because I love a good taupe! MNY is a brand that sells affordable make-up in trendy colors for a pretty good price. The polishes cost €2,49.

It's a taupe but with purple undertones which is perfect for me because purple and taupe are my favorite colors. (Closely followed by green and blue) I have one Helmer drawer that is about 3/4 full of taupes and I have no dupes!

I needed four coats to get it fully opaque but I knew I would be making macro shots and macro is relentless. I think you can get away with three coats in everyday life.

I decided to do a comparison with some close colors:

Pinky: Essence LE You Rock Collection 02 Love, Peace and Purple. Four coats with topcoat.
Ring finger: Rimmel PRO 385 Hot List. Three coats with topcoat.
Middle finger: MNY 549 (See, it looks stupid with no name!) Four coats with topcoat.
index finger: OPI You Don't Know Jacques. Three coats with topcoat.

The Essence and Rimmel polishes are said to be dupes for Chanel Paradoxal. One difference between the two that I noticed irl but couldn't capture on camera is that the Rimmel one has more purple shimmer and a little, almost not noticeable, pearl shine to it which makes it look very glowy and shiny and brings out the purple shimmer more.

OPI YDKJ has more brown and grey and no purple whatsoever.

The base color on both Paradoxal dupes and MNY 549 is the same though so if you like the color but do not like shimmer polishes, this is the polish for you!

It wasn't until I was writing this blog post that I thought I should have also compared it to Models Own Purple Grey so I pulled the bottle out of my Helmer. They are nothing alike. Purple Grey is darker, a lot more purple and isn't as warm toned because it doesn't have brown or taupe in it. If I remember I'll show this to you another time.

So, that's it for today! I'm going to see if I can find some way to cool down because it's been absolutely tropical here. We're supposed to get rain and thunderstorms here tonight and I'm really looking forward to that. Maybe that will cool things down a bit.

Franken: Dorothy's Journey To The Stars!

Hi all!

A couple of years ago I was browsing the web and I stumbled upon this blog post by The Nailphile on the original Dorothy Who?. This is the first polish I fell in love with and it was the beginning of my love affair with nailpolish and nails. I spent the next few days reading her entire blog and when I was done I followed links to other blogs and did the same there.

You can imagine how happy I was when China Glaze announced they would bring the Wizard of Ooh Ahz Collection back! Finally I would have the chance to own this beauty myself! As soon as it came out I bought Dorothy Who? but when I saw it in person I was dissapointed. This looked nothing like the original and frankly, I think the new version is just plain ugly. It's too light and too silvery and kind of cheap-looking.

Another polish I was disappointed in was Metallic Blue by Esprit. It has an indigo base with turquoise and magenta microglitter and looks gorgeous in the bottle but on the nail the glitter won't show up as much as I would like. I bought this to kill the lemming I had for a darker blue glitter polish like Essie's Starry Starry Night but was not satisfied.

So I did the only reasonable thing to do: I frankened them!

I'm calling it Dorothy's Journey To The Stars.

It looks nothing like the original Dorothy Who? and nothing like Essie's Starry Starry Night but I love it! The different colored microglitters from Metallic Blue give it so much depth!

Unfortunately the sun wouldn't come out and play...

The recipe is fairly simple. I had about half a bottle of Dorothy Who? left after using if for other frankens and the Esprit polish was a 5ml mini so I just added that one to Dorothy Who? a couple of drops at a time until I was satisfied with the color which turned out to be when the entire bottle of Esprit was empty.

I think this franken needs a bit of clear polish to make a a tad more jelly and bring the glitter out more, but the bottle is full so that will have to wait until I've worn it a couple of times.

Catrice Forget-Me-Not Mattified!

I looooooove this manicure. I bought Forget-Me-Not for the sole purpose of mattifying it and I was right, it looks so good matte!

To see more color accurate pictures of what this polish looks like on it's own, check out these swatches from Witoxicity. For some reason my camera made this one look a lot more blue than it is irl.

Just like we've come to expect from Catrice, this applied like a dream. I love their brush, formula and opacity! I used two coats, 1 coat of Nubar Diamont (old formula) and Catrice Nail Expert Matt Top Coat. Then I used Bundle Monster plate BM02 and China Glaze Millenium for stamping.

I'd like to say I got my blogging groove back but I don't want to jinx it. However, I'm having a lot of fun experimenting with polishes and nail-art over the past few days and it's been great to talk to all of you again!

Essence Choose Me!

Today I'm wearing Essence Choose Me! This is apparently a dupe for Zoya Charla, OPI Catch Me In Your Net and I belief there's also an Orly polish that is a dupe. I can't compare them for you because I don't own any of those. This is definitely the cheapest of them all though so if you are looking for a budget alternative, you need this in your life!

You've probably seen better pics of this on other blogs but if you haven't I strongly recommend you google this polish. It's a stunning blue-green foil glitter polish that really looks best with a bit of sunshine on it but the sun wouldn't show itself while I was taking pics.

I've seen this polish described as a glitter but I don't agree with that description. It's very sparkly but I would describe this one as a foil. Maybe a foil glitter but not just a glitter.

This is the best pic I could take that shows some of the sparkly goodness. Those of you who own this polishes or one of it's dupes know that it's much better irl but it's impossible to capture without sunlight so this pic will have to do.

Essence: Right, Girl with Bundle Monster stamp

Hi guys!

It's been a while but I have a manicure I wanted to share with you all. Recently I finally gave in and bought the Bundle Monster plates from www.bundlemonster.com and I'm glad I did! I used an image from plate BM-222 and Wet 'n Wild Black Creme for the design.

Please excuse the tipwear. I'd been wearing this mani for a couple of days before I took the pics.

This polish is from the Essence Multi Dimension line and is called Right, Girl. It's a medium red with red and gold shimmer. The gold shimmer is not very visible on the nail but it's a nice shade anyway.

I don't own many reds (or pinks) but lately I find myself reaching for them more often so I've been expanding my pink and red stash. Do you wear reds and pinks a lot? What are your favorites?

The Most Adorable Image Plates! Ever!

While browsing around I just found a brand of image plates I haven't heard of before. It's quite possible this is old news to all of you because I haven't really been keeping up with reading blogs but I wanted to show them to you anyway.

Apparently, Shirley, from Dashica Beauty has created her own image plates for stamping and she did so brilliantly! One thing that always bugged me with Konad is that they don't have mirror images so you can make your left and right hand the same. Shirley's plates do!

I'm borrowing these images from her site but it's free advertising so I hope she is OK with it. I'll contacted her about it and if she doesn't want me to I'll remove these.

Calimero! I don't know if this means anything to my international readers but there isn't one kid in the Netherlands (over 25 lol) who didn't grow up with Calimero on TV.

I really like the full-nail designs on this plate but the star is most definitely Piglet! Or maybe the little doggy with the star ball.

Apparently these plates are larger than the Konad or Bundle Monster plates so the full-nail designs should actually really fit your thumbs without double stamping. I haven't tried these yet but I do plan on getting some (and some Bundle Monster plates) when my tax return comes in. If any of you know these plates and have more info please let us know!

Nails, Hair, Bento and Stuff

I guess you all noticed I hadn't updated in a long time and that this has been a reoccurring theme on my blog for the past months. There has been a LOT going on in blogland which has, quite frankly, taken the fun out of blogging for me for a while. I started this blog because I love nails and nailpolish and wanted to share this with anyone who was interested in reading my ramblings. Painting my nails is relaxing for me and even when my arthritis is flaring up and I can do very little else and even the most basic daily tasks are hard, fiddling around with polish is something I can do to relax and take care of myself and my appearance. Playing with colors makes me happy. Sharing this with you guys made me happy.

This blog however, stopped making me happy. It had become a big giant Thing on my ever growing To Do List of things I don't have time or energy for next to my everyday life. My heart wasn't in it anymore and painting my nails and playing with my polish became something that drained energy instead of giving it. Where blogging and polishing my nails used to be a fun addition to my life, it now was something that life got in the way of. It took me a while to realize I did that to myself.

I do not HAVE to blog, I like it. I do not HAVE to keep up with other blogs, I like it. I do not HAVE to blog solely about nails. No matter what my blog title says, it's MY blog. I do not HAVE to have to buy myself silly to get all the latest collections and quite frankly, I DON'T want to. I have no intention of ever going professional. I have no intention of ever joining any kind of bloggers union no matter how important they think they are. I do not have to get anyone's permission to post, say or do anything on my blog and no one needs to approve. I blog for me.

So, there are probably going to be some changes to my blog over the next few hours, days, weeks, months... Or not. I won't commit to anything because that takes the fun out of it for me. If you want to stick around for that; GREAT! I really appreciate you guys and the fact that you take time to read and even comment to my blogs. I can't promise I'll respond to every comment but I will read them all and please know I appreciate them.

On a positive note: I've found something else that makes me happy. I've been growing my hair out for the past two years and it's getting to a length where I can start to do fun stuff with it. I've joined a couple of long hair fora and learned a lot about haircare and ways to put your hair up and have found a new passion: making hair sticks and forks. This means you can expect the occasional post on haircare, updo's and new hair sticks and forks I made and I'll probably catalog my hair growth here too. I might even write a tutorial on how to make hair sticks if you guys are interested.

To end this Big Wall 'O Text, here are some pics of things that made me happy today:

My bento lunch! Anyone who can look at a bunny-shaped egg without smiling should have his funnybone checked.

On the left: fried rice with red pepper, garlic, courgette, peas and tauge, a soy sauce fishy and a bunny-shaped egg. On the right: mini pancakes (poffertjes), clotted cream, strawberry jam, a couple of mini roma tomatoes and some pistachios. Not the healthiest of bento's but it's perfect comfort food!

OPI Burlesque Collection: Simmer & Shimmer!

Today I'm showing you my breast-cancer awareness manicure. I read on Delta Cephei's blog about a promotion Etos (a Dutch drugstore) is doing to raise awareness for Pink Ribbon. (www.pinkribbon.com) They ask women to paint their nails with one accent nail: a pink pinky. When you get questions about why your pinky is a different colour you can explain about Pink Ribbon and what people can do to support them. I loved this idea so I decided to use Simmer & Shimmer to do a mani myself. I used Viva la Diva #71 on my pinky.

Compared to Absolutely Alice, Simmer & Shimmer is a bit more silver and it has multi-colored glitters instead of just blue and gold. There is fuschsia, orange, yellow, green and gold which make it feel like a party in a bottle. Contrairy to what you might expect after that statement it is not an "in-your-face" glitter. Somehow OPI manages to make glitter polishes seem subdued and demure. Apart from it being glitter of course. lol

This is the sort of glitter polish I'm pretty sure wouldn't have caused my late grandmother to throw a hissyfit and kick me out of the house while yelling at me I was the whore of Babylon and believe me, my grandmother wasn't easily satisfied. Just kidding! (No I'm not.)

Anyway, back to the polish! I did four coats of Simmer & Shimmer but honestly, that fourth coat was my paranoia kicking in. Macro setting and all.... I could see some of my bare nail through it if I looked closely but from a reasonable distance the glitter took care of that. On the pinky I used two coats of Simmer & Shimmer and two coats of Viva la Diva #71 because I wanted some of the blue glitter to shine through and pull the look together.

Drying time was short as can be expected from glitters. The surface was a little bumpy after the first coat of topcoat so I added a second one to make it smooth.

Removal was normal for glitters. A pain if you try to do it the old fashioned way but with the foil method it was a breeze! I did find some stray glitters on my hands (and on my face, my hair, my couche, the floor, and on boyfriend etc. lol) but that is just the price we have to pay for wearing awesome glitters.

OPI Burlesque Collection: Teas-y Does It!

Last week I got a surprise package in the mail. Two gorgeous OPI polishes from the new Burlesque Collection! With this Burlesque Collection, OPI ties in with Sony release of “Burlesque” – Christina Aguilera’s film debut in which she plays an ambitious small-town girl with a big voice who finds success in a neo-burlesque club reminiscent of the nightclub in Bob Fosse’s “Cabaret.” Featuring an all-star cast including Cher!

Not sure if I'll go see the movie but the collection contains some very nice polishes. OPI went the glitter-route again and they do it so well!

As some of you might know from reading several Dutch nail blogs the Netherlands are always a little slow when it comes to new collections. It's not unheard of for new collections to come out up to two months later here. From what I understand, the Burlesque Collection is already available in the US but in the Netherlands it will be available from the beginning of November.

Enough talk, let's go to the pictures!

Teas-y Does It! is a vampy bordeaux polish. In the bottle the base is a sort of bordeaux and brown color with a very murky and smokey feel to it. It's filled with tiny foily flakes that flash purple, copper, gold and in some lights almost green. It seems to almost be a duochrome.

On the nail, I'm sorry to say, that multi-dimensional look doesn't quite show. You really need decent sunlight to admire this one in all it's glory. That said, it is a very pretty polish and one of my favorites from this collection. I'll definitely wear this one again!

It took me three coats to get it opaque but with careful polishing you might get away with two. Drying time is great! It was dry to the touch before I was ready to apply topcoat.Removal was also a breeze contrary to what I was expecting considering the flakies in the polish.

I'm Wearing Yellow Today!

There is a first for everything... ;)
I love the look of yellow polish but usually not on me however this polish might be the first that didn't give my skin that sick look so I love it! This is Orly Lemonade from the Orly Sweet Collection that came out last spring or summer, I'm not sure. It's a collection of gorgeous pastels that are all surprisingly opaque in very few coats.

Yellow is notorious when it comes to coverage but this one was opaque in three thin coats so I'm impressed! I also love the Orly formula, brush and ofcourse the big bottles and rubber handle for easy grip. They may not be the prettiest but the are very functional.

Yellow is such a happy color! I did feel the need to spice it up a bit with a full-nail Konad print. I used plate M70 and Konad Special polish in Black which I bought at www.enchantra.eu. If you think you can see darker yellow spots on my nails, your eyes are not deceiving you. My first idea was to stamp this design in a darker yellow but it didn't stand out enough to make an impression so I wiped it off with a quick swipe with a felt square and pure acetone but it seems I missed some. What can I say, I only have time to paint my nails at night and it was to dark to see clearly. lol

Still, I'm really fond of this design. I was expecting some comments from classmates but no one seems to have noticed. Maybe it wasn't as 'in your face' as I thought it was.

Baroque Chic

I'm a winter-person. I love tweed, warm woolen sweaters and mittens. Waking up to see ice flowers on the bedroom window and staying in bed just a little longer, curled up under the blankets. Cooking typical (Dutch) winter foods like stews, hotch potch and pea soup. Taking a long walk when the first snow falls, even if it's in the middle of the night. Or should I say especially in the middle of the night? The world is a magical place when it's covered in a white layer. Everything is so peaceful and quiet.

I'm a longing for winter and I'm getting a bit sick of all the happy pastels and glittery goodness so for todays nails I used Catrice The Devil Wears Red; a nice near-black red vampy polish. I'm told TDWR is a dupe for Chanel Rouge Noir. I don't have that one so I don't know how close it is but it's a beautiful vampy nonetheless.

I've been painting my nails at night with poor lighting again (will I ever learn?) and I woke up this morning to discover a couple of spots that weren't covered completely so I decided to cover them up with a little Konad.

I used Konad plate M71 and China Glaze 2030 from the Khrome Collection for stamping. Most chrome polishes are great for stamping and this one is no exception! The result is always very crisp and clean and the shine is amazing.

New Eyeko polishes

Hi there! Eyeko came out with two new polishes called Rain and Saucy and they were kind enough to send me some for review. I actually wore Saucy yesterday but didn't get around to posting it so I'm showing you both today.

If you read my blog regularly you might have noticed I'm not really a red fan and I hate to swoon over a polish I received for review like this because it seems disingenuous but this really is the perfect red. It actually made my heart skip a beat when I opened the package. It's THAT beautiful! I may have found a HG red creme; something I never expected to find because red is just not me. Judge for yourself...

Hi left hand!

*Swoon* Isn't it gorgeous?! I know other bloggers said it was a one-coater for them but I definitely needed two coats to get it nice and even. Not that I mind though, I'm not fond of one-coaters anyway. I always do a second coat with polishes like that unless I want to layer it.

I really enjoyed wearing this polish as it is but still couldn't leave it alone so yesterday afternoon I stamped it with a patern from an Essence plate to give it a bit of an Asian look. I can't tell you the number for the plate because I bought four different plates and they were only marked #1 and #2. This one had a #1 on it but because I had two different #1 plates I named this one #1A.

I'm really happy with how this turned out! It made me want to dress my hair up with chopsticks and eat Chinese food. Which of course I did. I made Kung Pao chicken for diner. Yum!

Today I'm wearing Rain. A blue-toned grey with a secret silver shimmer that is visible in the bottle but not so much on my nails. Weird because I've seen pictures from other that clearly show the subtle shimmer.

I had a bit more trouble with this one. Not horrible but like most pastels and lighter colours it has a tendency to get goopy so after the second coat I added a couple of drops of thinner to fix that.

Because I love my new nubbins so much and the Konad full-nail plates finally fit, I decided to stamp this one with a patern from plate M74. I've never been able to use this plate because it annoys me when slanted paterns don't cover half my nails but now they do.

I might keep this on for more than one day but if not I have a lilac-purple-white plaid mani planned for tomorrow.

It's Alive!

Mijn laatste blogpost is al een tijdje geleden maar ik ben niet toegekomen aan bloggen doordat ik druk was met tentamens en de nieuwe pup. Maar het is zomervakantie nu dus ik heb tijd om het in te halen. Bedankt dat jullie toch zijn blijven plakken!

Ik heb niet van alle NOTD's van de laatste tijd foto's kunnen maken maar ik heb er wel een aantal voor jullie.

It has been a while since my last blogpost but I just didn't get around to it with finals and the new puppy. But it's summer vacation no so I'll have time to catch up. thank you so much for sticking around everyone!

I haven't been able to photograph every NOTD lately but I do have a couple for you.

Laat ik maar beginnen met mijn NOTD van vandaag. Ik heb mijn nagels kort gevijld en ik vind het eigenlijk wel mooi dus ik denk dat ik ze een tijdje zo houd. Het voordeel is ook dat de Konad full-nail plates nu op bijna al mijn nagels passen behalve mijn ringvingernagel maar de ruimte die overblijft is klein dus dat vind ik niet erg.

Ik heb Nfu Oh #65 gebruikt met Konad plate S06 en Wet 'n Wild Black Creme voor het stempelen.

Let's start with my NOTD from today. I filed my nails down to nubbins and I actually like the style so I think I'll keep them this way for a while. The good thing about this is the Konad full-nail plates will actually fit all my nails except my ringfinger nails now, but the remaining gap on my ringfinger nail is so small it doesn't bother me.

I used Nfu Oh #65,Konad plate S06 and Wet 'n Wild Black Creme for stamping.

Nfu Of maakt de beste holo's! Ze zijn belachelijk schitterend, glanzend en makkelijk om mee te werken, daarnaast zijn de flesjes prachtig. Als ik een snelle zomerse manicure wil grijp ik altijd naar de Nfu Oh holo's omdat ze zo snel drogen. Het zijn eigenlijk matte lakken maar omdat de holo zo enorm sterk is valt dat haast niet op.

Nfu Oh makes the best holo's! They are insanely sparkly, shiny and easy to work with plus the bottles are beautiful. If I need a quick summery manicure I always grab for the Nfu Oh holo's because they dry so fast. They are actually matte but it's hardly noticeable because of the insane holo shine.

En dan nu de reden dat ik weinig foto's heb kunnen posten...

Dare Mani!

Missnono op MUA (oftewel EvilAngel van http://blacknailpolishandlipgloss.blogspot.com/) heeft een ouderwetse 'dare' op de nailboard gehouden afgelopen weekend. Iedereen die mee wilde doen kon een 'dare' krijgen voor een manicure. De mijne was "De felste paars die je hebt met groene stippen" dus hier is ie!

Missnono over at MUA (AKA EvilAngel from http://blacknailpolishandlipgloss.blogspot.com/) organised a good old-fashioned dare on the nailboard last weekend. Everyone that wanted too could get a dare from her for a manicure. My dare was "the brightest purple you own with green polkadots". So here it is!

Ik heb mijn oude camera weer in gebruik genomen. Hij werkt alleen nog als hij aan de stroom ligt maar de foto's zijn zoveel beter dat het de moeite wel waard is. lol Hij is van mijn opa geweest dus ik zou het erg fijn vinden als ik hem gewoon kon gebruiken. Hij was dol op deze camera! Mijn opa was sowieso nooit bang voor nieuwe gadgets. Hij leerde gebruiksaanwijzingen haast uit zijn hoofd als hij weer een nieuw elektronisch speeltje had. Hij heeft zichzelf geleerd om een computer en digitale camera te gebruiken en hoe hij foto's moest editten en dat allemaal terwijl hij al over de 80 was.

Toen hij 85 werd hebben de kleinkinderen hem deze digitale camera gegeven en we waren allemaal verbaasd toen we de volgende ochtend begroet werden door een email in onze inbox met een foto die hij zelf had gemaakt en ge-e-maild terwijl hij de computer ook nog maar pas had.

Dus deze camera mag dan een nieuwe batterij nodig hebben en hij mag dan rottig in gebruik zijn op deze manier maar ik moet hem gewoon gebruiken en hem maken. Daarnaast zijn de foto's ook gewoon veel beter, scherper en kleurechter.

By the way, I brought back my old camera. It only works when it's hooked up to the power cord but the pics are so much better it's worth the trouble. lol It used to be my grandfather's so I would really like to be able to use it. He loved this camera! My grandfather was never afraid to try new gadgets. He used to memorize the manual whenever he got a new electronic toy. He taught himself to work a computer and how to use a digital camera and edit photos and all that when he was well over 80 years old.

When he turned 85 the grandchildren got together and bought him this digital camera and we were all amazed that even though he had never worked with a digital camera, and he had only gotten a computer very recently, we all had a picture, emailed by my grandfather himself, waiting in our inbox the next morning.

So this camera might need new batteries and it might be a pain to use it in it's current state but I just have to use it and get it fixed. Besides, the pictures are also a lot better, sharper, cleaner and more colour-accurate.

Ik heb mijn nagels wat korter moeten vijlen om bij de duim te passen maar dat is wel OK. Ik heb een druk weekend voor de boeg en kortere nagels zijn wat praktischer.

Did I mention I love this combo? If I hadn't snapped a corner of my thumb nail this afternoon while strapping my bag on my bike I would have kept this mani on for a couple of days. I had to file my nails a bit shorter to match the thumb but that's OK. I have a busy weekend ahead of me and shorter nails are more practical.

Surprise Puppy Giveaway Winner!

Ik heb eindelijk alle inschrijvingen geteld! Het waren er heel veel, heel erg bedankt voor het meedoen allemaal! Ik vond de puppynamen waar jullie mee kwamen echt geweldig. Een paar vna mijn favorieten waren Wall-E en Wasabi. Als we niet besloten hadden om ouderwetse Nederlandse namen te gebruiken waren die zeker een optie geweest!

Helaas heb ik wel een aantal inschrijvingen moeten diskwalificeren omdat ze niet aan de regels voldeden en omdat dat niet leuk is voor ons allemaal ben ik van plan om de volgende keer de regels aan te passen.

Hoe dan ook... toen ik eindelijk alle inschrijvingen geteld had heb ik ze op mijn formuliertje ingevuld en www.random.org gebruikt om de winnaar te bepalen.

Dit is Eyeko Vintage Polish Jade Green en ~~die is onderdeel van de Eyeko Spring Collection~~. Oeps, deze is niet uit de lente collectie maar onderdeel van een Limited Edition Collectie. Ik ben gek op deze kleur! Het is waarschijnlijk de eerste mintgroene lak die me geen kreeftenhanden geeft en ik kan er maar niet achter komen waarom niet. Meestal lijken mijn handen heel rood met koele mintgroene tinten maar deze mintgroen is ook koel van kleur met duidelijk blauwe ondertonen en toch heeft deze dat effect niet. Ik denk dat ik mijn perfecte mint-/jadegroene lak gevonden heb!

This is Eyeko Vintage Polish in Jade Green ~~and it is part of the Eyeko Spring Collection~~. Whoops, this isn't part of the spring collection but it's part of a Limited Edition Collection. I love this colour! It's probably the first mint green that doesn't give me lobster hands and I can't for the life of me figure out why not. Usually the cooler shades of mint green make my hands look really red but this is a mint green that is definitely cool-toned, has strong blue undertones and still doesn't have that effect. I think I may have found my perfect mint/jade green!

Ik was er zo blij mee dat ik de Konad en de nail-art spullen tevoorschijn heb gehaald. Ik heb gestempeld met Sally Hansen Grape Going en het vlinderpatroon van plate M16. Daarna heb ik een bloemetje met een duochrome effect toegevoegd. De bloemen weerschijnen groen en blauw als het licht er op valt. Daarna heb ik Nubar Diamont gebruikt om alles mooi te laten glanzen en de bloemen op hun plaats te houden.

I loved it so much I decided to bust out the Konad and the decals. I used Sally Hansen Grape Going for the stamping and used a butterfly patern from plate M16. Then I added flower decals with a nice duochromey accent. The flowers flash green and blue when the light hits them just right. I topped the whole thing off with Nubar Diamont to give it a great shine and to keep the decals in their place.

Deze lak heeft niet de platte kwastjes die ik prettig vind maar ik had geen problemen met aanbrengen. De formule is goed. Ik had drie laagjes nodig om het dekkend te krijgen wat normaal is voor mij, zeker aangezien dit een pastelkleur is. Het enige nadeel dat ik tot nu toe heb ontdekt met dit merk is het formaat van de flesjes. (8.5 ml).

Ik ben op dit moment de inschrijvingen voor mijn winactie aan het tellen en ik hoop vanavond de winnaar aan te kunnen kondigen. Helaas heb ik een aantal inscrijvingen moeten diskwalificeren omdat ze niet aan de regels voldeden. Niet leuk om te doen dus voor mijn volgende winactie ga ik het een stuk simpeler maken. Ik dacht dat de regels nu al niet zo ingewikkeld waren maar blijkbaar heb ik me vergist.Ik wil dat mijn winacties leuk en makkelijk zijn en geen doolhof van opdrachten en regels dus de volgende keer gooi ik alle regels eruit!

This polish doesn't have a flat brush like I prefer but I didn't have any problems with the application. The formula is good. It took three coats to be opaque which is quite common for me, especially considering this is a pastel colour. The only down-side I've discovered with this brand so far is the size of the bottles (8.5 ml).

I'm counting the entries for my giveaway as we speak so I hope to finally announce the winner by the end of the day. Unfortunately I've had do disqualify some entries because they didn't follow the rules. I don't really like to do that so for my next giveaway I plan to make it a lot easier. I didn't think the rules on this one were so hard to follow but apparently I was wrong. Catrice Limited Edition: The Oceana Collection!

Catrice heeft ons niet alleen een geweldige core line gegeven maar ze blijven ook nog steeds erg mooie (en erg beperkte) limited editions uitbrengen. De meest recente is Oceana.

Niet alle kleuren in deze collectie horen bij het thema vind ik maar wat maakt het uit. Wat wel leuk is, is dat deze collectie twee matte lakjes heeft en dat de kwaliteit erg goed is!

Op naar de swatches.

Catrice did not only bring us an amazing new core line, they also continue to make very nice (very) limited editions. The most recent one is Oceana.

Not all the colours in the collection make sense to me but who cares. What matters is that this collection has two mattes and the quality of the polishes is great!

So, on to the swatches.

Pebble Beach, a zachte lichtgrijs. Dit is mijn favoriet uit deze collectie! De finish is meer satijnachtig dan mat maar dat past bij deze kleur ook wel heel erg goed. Dit is twee laagjes en de dekking was erg goed. De formule was prettig om mee te werken omdat deze niet, in tegenstelling tot sommige andere matte lakjes, haast op het kwastje al droog is.

Pebble Beach, a soft, light grey. This is my favourite from this collection! The finish is more satin than matte but that suits really well with this colour. I used two coats in this pic but the formula was very opaque. It's also easy to work with because, unlike other mattes I've worked with, it doesn't dry before it's properly on your nail.

Sea Of Green. Deze mooie turquoise is ook weer meer satijnachtig dan mat en is een goede tweede favoriet. Mooi! Ook deze was dekkend in twee laagjes en droogde eenmaal op de nagel redelijk snel. Dat is altijd erg prettig aan matte lakken. Bij cremes vind ik een satijnachtige finish ook mooier dan echt mat.

Sea Of Green. This nice turquoise that also dries to a satin finish instead of matte. It's a close second to my favourite. Pretty! This one was also opaque in two coats and once on the nail, it dried pretty fast. I like that about mattes. With cremes I also prefer satin finishes over true matte.

Ik hoor om me heen dat dit een matte versie van I Sea You van Catrice zou zijn maar dat is zoals je ziet niet het geval! Om de vergelijking qua kleur goed te kunnen maken heb ik over beide een topcoat gedaan. Op mijn wijsvinger en ringvinger zit I Sea You en op mijn middelvinger en pink Sea Of Green. Zoals je ziet is Sea Of Green donkerder dan I Sea You.

Word around the blogs is this is a matte version of I Sea You by Catrice but as you can see it is not! To be able to compare the colours correctly I added a topcoat to both of them. I Sea You is on my index and ring finger, Sea Of Green on my middle finger and pinky. As you can see, Sea Of Green is darker compared to I Sea You.

De volgende is Blue Out To Sea. Een donkerblauwe shimmer. Niet heel uniek maar wel mooi. De kobaltblauwe shimmer geeft deze lak net even wat meer diepte.

Next up is Blue Out To Sea. A dark blue shimmer. Not terribly unique but still pretty. The cobalt blue shimmer gives this polish a little more depth.

De laatste is Ocean Sunset. Ik zal er maar gelijk bij vertellen dat deze foto absoluut niet kleurecht is. Als ik alleen deze wilde laten zien had ik de foto niet geplaatst maar omdat ik de hele collectie laat zien wilde ik hem er toch bij doen. Deze lak is niet oranje maar echt brandweerwagenrood! Een prachtige rode jelly die ook weer niet heel uniek is maar als je nog geen rode jelly hebt dan is dit een erg prettige!
Op de foto draag ik twee laagjes zonder basecoat of topcoat.

Dat was het weer voor vandaag! Bedankt voor het kijken en dat jullie zo geduldig met me zijn geweest toen ik afwezig was.

Last is Ocean Sunset. I'll say straight away that this pic is far from true to colour. If I just wanted to show you this one polish I wouldn't have even posted it but because I'm showing the whole collection I wanted to include it. This polish isn't orange but vibrant fire-engine red! A gorgeous red jelly that also isn't terribly unique but if you don't own a red jelly yet this one is very nice to work with!

I'm wearing two coats without basecoat or topcoat.

OPI Shrek Collection: Ogre The Top Blue

Vandaag dan eindelijk de andere lak die ik voor review gekregen heb uit de OPI Shrek collectie: Ogre The Top Blue.

Today I'm finally showing you the other polish I received for review from the OPI Shrek Collection: Ogre The Top Blue.

Een mooie, heldere middenblauwe creme. Omdat de formule wat dun en streperig is had ik drie laagjes nodig om deze dekkend te krijgen. De kleur is niet heel uniek volgens mij maar ik ben nog niet op zoek gegaan in mijn stash naar vergelijkingsmateriaal. Mocht ik nog een dupe tegenkomen dan laat ik dat jullie zeker weten!

A nice, bright middle blue creme. Because the formula was a bit thin and streaky I needed three coats to get it opaque. I don't think the colour is very unique but I didn't search my stash for dupes yet. If I come across one I'll let you know!

Sorry voor de matige kwaliteit van mijn foto's. Mijn camera is stuk waardoor ik op mijn back-up aangewezen ben die helaas niet zulke mooie foto's maakt. Ik ben aan het bekijken of ik qua budget beter mijn camera kan laten maken of een nieuwe kan kopen.

Shrek Collection: Rumple's Wiggin' and a pupdate!

Heel erg bedankt aan iedereen die hun beste wensen en felicitaties heeft gestuurd voor ons huwelijk. We hebben een fantastische dag gehad! We hebben wat tijd genomen om te genieten na de bruiloft maar ik zal ergens in de komende week weer normaal gaan posten.

Thanks to everyone who sent their best wishes and congratulations for our wedding. We had a great day! We've taken some time to enjoy our post-wedding days but I should be back to regular posting somewhere in the next week.

Dusss eerst de swatch is ik al dagen beloofd heb. OPI Nederland heeft mij twee lakken uit de nieuwe OPI Shrek Collection gestuurd voor review. Dit is Rumple's Wiggin', die gebaseerd is op een nieuw karakter uit de volgende Shrek film.

Sorry voor de zwarte stipjes, Ik had wat bubbeltjes in mijn topcoat die irl niet echt te zien zijn maar blijkbaar op de foto zwart lijken.

Sooo first the swatch I've been promising for days now. OPI Nederland was kind enough to send me two polishes from the OPI Shrek Collection for review. This is Rumple's Wiggin' which is based on a new character from the next Shrek movie.

Excuse the little black dots, I've had some bubbles in my topcoat that don't really show irl but apparently show up black in pictures.

Iedereen die mijn blog regelmatig leest weet dat ik paars bijna net zo mooi vind als modderkleuren en deze is geen uitzondering. Het is een heel mooie lavendelkleurige pastel die net een beetje warmer van kleur is dan China Glaze Light As Air. Wat kleur betreft vind ik deze mooier omdat deze niet het typ-exeffect heeft op mij.

Anyone that reads my blog regularly knows I love purples almost as much as I love muddy colours and this is no exception. It's a very nice lavender pastel that is just a bit warmer toned than China Glaze Light As Air. Colour-wise I prefer this one because it doesn't have that white-out effect Light As Air had on me.

Ondanks dat ik erg houd van een goede paarse pastel was ik een beetje teleurgesteld in de dekking van deze. Ik had drie laagjes nodig om het dekkend te krijgen en op sommige nagels zelfs vier. De formule is wel erg prettig om mee te werken maar ik zou hem liever iets gepigmenteerder zien. Desondanks ben ik helemaal weg van deze!

As much as I love a good purple pastel I was a bit disappointed with the coverage of this one. It took three coats to be opaque and on some nails I even needed four. The formula is very nice to work with but I would prefer it if it was a bit more pigmented. That said, I really love this one!

Daarnaast heb ik nog een pupdate. We gaan de leuke tijd in nu alle ogen en oren open zijn en ze beginnen te lopen, grommen, blaffen en spelen. Het is zo'n grappig en schattig gezicht als ze per ongeluk blaffen en dan in paniek raken omdat ze iets engs gehoord hebben! lol

We hebben besloten om een van de reutjes te houden omdat deze nu al als twee druppels water lijkt qua karakter en ondeugendheid. Die links bovenaan richting de hand loopt is onze Wammes.

On unrelated news here is another pupdate. We are entering the fun stage now that their eyes and ears are open and they are starting to walk, growl, bark and play. It's so funny and adorable to see them bark by accident and then freak out because they heard something alarming! lol

We've decided to keep one of the male pups because it already is the spitting image of his dad where attitude and mischief are concerned. The one on the left going towards the hand is our Wammes.

Ben je al die Catrice lakjes al zat? Jammer dan want er zijn er nog veel meer!

Are you getting tired of all these Catrices yet? Too bad because there are a lot more!

Dit is From Dusk To Dawn, een erg mooie taupe die precies tussen Sephora by OPI Metro Chic en China Glaze Channelesque ligt. Een beetje paarser dan Channelesque, een beetje minder dan Metro Chic. Ze hebben wel bijna dezelfde kleurdiepte. (Ik zal later een vergelijking doen waar ook Catrice Lost In Mud bij zal zitten)

This is From Dusk To Dawn, a very nice taupe that is right in the middle of Sephora by OPI Metro Chic and China Glaze Channelesque. A bit less purple compared to Channelesque, a bit more than Metro Chic. The colour depth is pretty much the same. (I'll do a comparison later that also includes Catrice Lost in Mud)

Ik houd van modderige kleuren! Iemand zei vandaag tegen me dat deze niet erg lente-achtig was. Ik vind taupe gewoon een pastel bruin en niets is meer geschikt voor de lente dan pastels, dus. *steekt tong uit*

I looooove muddy colours! Someone commented on my nails today saying it wasn't very appropriate for spring. I say taupe is like a pastel brown and nothing screams spring more than pastels, so there. *sticks out tongue*

Plum Play With Me!

Nog een Catrice uit de nieuwe collectie waarvan je er een aantal kunt winnen bij mijn giveaway. Deze moest ook weer behoorlijk verdunt worden maar verdorie wat ben ik gek op die platte, korte Catrice kwastjes! Ze maken het zo makkelijk om de lak onder controle te houden.

Another Catrice polish from the new collection that you can win some polishes from in my giveaway. This one needed to be thinned considerably too but dang I looooove that flat, short Catrice brush! It makes it so easy to control where the polish goes.

Plum Play With Me is qua kleur niet echt speciaal maar ik houd wel van een goede paars en ik heb geen exacte dupes in mijn collectie dus ik ben er erg blij mee! In het echt is deze een beetje roder maar helaas pakt deze camera paars niet echt goed op.

Plum Play With Me is not really all that special colour-wise but I love a good purple and I have no exact dupes in my collection so I'm glad I got it! It is a little more red irl but unfortunately this camera won't pick up purples that well.

Catrice Let's Talk About Barrie!

Let's Talk About Barrie is een mooie berry-kleurige jelly. Prachtige kleur! Niet te rood, niet te roze, ik ben er helemaal weg van!

Ik had drie laagjes nodig om deze helemaal dekkend te krijgen maar als je geen problemen hebt met een beetje VNL (Engelse afkorting voor zichtbare nagellijn of visible nail line) dan is twee laagjes genoeg om een mooie finish te krijgen. Ik had met deze geen problemen met de formule. De lak werkte erg prettig, wat te verwachten is van een jelly.

Let's Talk About Barrie is a very nice berry-coloured jelly. Beautiful colour! Not too red, not too pink, I absolutely love it!

It took tree coats to be perfectly opaque but if you don't mind a little VNL (visible nail line) two are enough to get a nice finish. I've had no trouble with this one formula-wise. The consistency was very nice to work with as can be expected from a jelly.

Ik laat mijn linkerhand zien omdat mijn rechter een aantal flinke chips had na anderhalve dag dragen. Ik ben wel aardig hard geweest voor mijn nagels maar het is alsnog een beetje een teleurstelling. Ik heb ook wat vreemde krimp gehad op sommige vingers zoals je op mijn ringvinger kan zien maar daarvan geef ik Diamont de schuld.

Ik heb ook besloten om in het vervolg verticale foto's te posten in plaats van horizontale. Ik weet dat een aantal van jullie liever horizontale zien maar blogger cropt die foto's op een vreemde manier waardoor mijn handen en nagels er vreemd smal en uitgerekt en dat vinnik nie loik dus ik ga verticaal!

I'm showing you my left hand because my right had a couple of bad chips after only a day and a half of wear. I've been pretty rough on my hands but it's still a bit disappointing. I've also had some weird shrinking on some fingers as you can see on my ring finger but I blame Diamont for that.

I've also decided I'm going to post vertical pics from now on instead of horizontal ones. I know some of you told me you prefer horizontal but somehow those pics are cropped a a weird way which makes my hands and nails look weirdly thin and stretched and me no likey so I'm going vertical from now on!

Wij denken er serieus over na om het bonte reutje te houden dat rechtsboven met zijn kont uit de groep steekt en mijn zus wil twee teefjes houden. Hopelijk vinden we op tijd baasjes voor de overige pups maar dat zal wel lukken. Wie wil er nou niet zo'n hummel? ;)

We're seriously thinking about keeping the white and black male pup that sticks his butt out of the group on the top right and my sister want's to keep two of the bitches. I hope we can find new owners for the rest of them but that shouldn't be a problem. Who wouldn't want to have one of these? ;)

Als eerste een reminder om je in te schrijven voor mijn Surprise Puppy Giveaway om negen Catrice lakjes van jouw keuze te winnen!

Ik heb een klein beetje zon gehad en daar heb ik gebruik van gemaakt om een aantal shimmers uit de nieuwe Lente/Zomer collectie van Catrice te swatchen. Daarna liet de zon me in de steek dus de rest volgt nog maar daarvoor moet ik mijn lightbox uit de kast trekken.

I had a little sunlight today so I used that to swatch a couple of shimmers from the new Spring/Summer Collection by Catrice. After that the sun failed me but the rest will follow, I just have to get out my light box for those.

Ik moet mijn eerdere opmerkingen over de formule van deze collectie terugnemen. Blijkbaar zijn de problemen die ik had met Poison Me, Poison You beperkt tot die ene lak want met de rest van de collectie heb ik geen problemen gehad. Alleen Sold Out For Ever was iets moeilijker maar dat is ook een pastel en die staan erom bekend.

Alle swatches zijn twee laagjes zonder basecoat of topcoat tenzij anders vermeld.

I have to retract my previous comments on the formula of this collection. I guess the problems I had with Poison Me, Poison You were limited to that polish alone because the rest of the collection gave me no trouble. Only Sold Out For Ever was a bit harder but that is a pastel and they are notorious for it.

All swatches are two coats without basecoat or topcoat unless otherwise stated.

Laat me je voorstellen aan Clay-ton, My Hero. Een greige (grijs/beige) met gouden shimmer en in sommig licht zelfs een zeegroene tint. Deze is zo mooi en delicaat!

Meet Clay-ton, My Hero. A greige (grey/beige) with gold shimmer and in some light it even has a sea-green tint. This one is so pretty and delicate!

De volgende is Blue's Brother, een staalblauwe shimmer. Deze heeft zoveel shimmer dat ze grenst aan een foil. Niet helemaal mijn smaak maar het is wel een vrolijk zomerkleurtje dat ik me wel met leuke sandalen en een rokje zie dragen.

Next up is Blue's Brother, a steelblue shimmer. This has so much shimmer it borders on a foil. Not exactly my taste but it is a fun summer colour and I can see myself wearing it with cute sandals and a skirt.

Big Spender Wanted! Roze met gouden shimmer. Deze doet me denken aan China Glaze Strawberry Fields maar deze is koeler van kleur en heeft minder rood. Mooi, meisjesachtig en zomerig maar niet erg interessant vind ik. Als je nog niet zoiets hebt is deze de moeite waard om te kopen maar het is geen absolute must have.

Big Spender Wanted! Pink with a golden shimmer. This one reminds me of China Glaze Strawberry Fields but it's cooler toned and has less red. Pretty, girly and summery but not very interesting in my opinion. If you don't have something like it, it is worth buying but to me it's not a must have.

Be My Millionaire. Een mooie koele, antiek-uitziende gouden shimmer. Ik ben er vrijwel zeker van dat Catrice heeft geprobeerd Chanel Kaleidoscope te dupen met deze. Ik heb geen idee hoe goed ze hierin geslaagd zijn omdat ik niets vergelijkbaars heb maar van wat ik kan zien heeft Kaleidoscope grotere shimmerdeeltjes. De kleur lijkt echter wel in de buurt te komen.

Be My Millionaire. A pretty cool-toned antique-looking gold shimmer. I'm pretty sure Catrice tried to come close to Chanel Kaleidoscope with this one. I have no idea how close they came because I have nothing like it but from what I can see Kaleidoscope has bigger shimmer particles. The colour seems pretty close though.

Nee niet gelijk boos worden! Natuurlijk ga ik geen puppies weggeven! Laat me even uitpraten!

Ik heb twee heel lieve Nederlandse Schapendoezen genaamd Bikkel en Anoek en Bikkel wordt papa!
Op dit moment is Renske, de schapendoes van mijn zus, zo enorm zwanger dat ze nauwelijks meer kan lopen en de puppies komen dit weekend! We weten niet precies hoeveel het er worden maar de dierenarts vertelde dat we moesten rekenen op iets tussen de 6-12!
Bikkel is de voorste hond en Renske de zwarte daar achter.

I have two very cute Dutch Sheepdogs called Bikkel and Anoek and Bikkel is going to be a daddy! Right now my sisters sheepdog Renske is so pregnant she can hardly walk and the puppies are due next weekend! We don't know exactly how many puppies there are going to be but the vet told us we should be counting on anything from 6-12!
Bikkel is the dog in the front and Renske the black one behind him.

Catrice came out with a new line!

You gotta love Catrice! Ze maken geweldige lakjes, hebben fantastische LE's en ze kosten nagenoeg niets. What kan een meisje zich nog meer wensen in een nagellak?

Catrice heeft onlangs hun gehele lijn met lakjes geupdate met nieuwe kleuren en strakker uitziende flesjes. Je kunt de gehele collectie met swatches op nagelwielen zien op Innen Und Aussen, een Duits blog. Zijn ze niet geweldig?!

(En ja, volgens mij zie ik daar een Chanel Jade dupe! Als iemand Jade heeft laat het me dan weten zodat ik je een flesje Catrice Sold Out For Ever kan sturen om ze te vergelijken. Ik zal een vergelijking met Claire's Dreamchater doen later deze week.)

Het enige nadeel is dat ze ook met de formule gerotzooid hebben en dat is geen verbetering. Je MOET verdunner hebben om deze lakjes op een normale manier te kunnen gebruiken want zonder zijn ze gewoon te dik, stroperig, streperig en moeilijk om mee te werken.

You gotta love Catrice! They make amazing polishes, have great LE's and they cost next to nothing. What more can a girl ask for in a polish?

Catrice recently updated their entire line of polishes with new colours and sleeker looking bottles. You can see the entire collection with swatches on nail wheels on Innen Und Aussen, a German blog. Don't they look amazing?!

(And yes, I do believe I see a Jade dupe there! If anyone has Jade let me know so I can send you a bottle of Catrice Sold Out For Ever to compare them. I'll do a comparison with Claire's Dreamcatcher later this week.)

The only downside is they messed with the formula and not for the better. You NEED to have thinner if you want to be able to use these in a normal fashion because without it they are just to thick, streaky and hard to work with.

Dit is drie laagjes Poison Me, Poison You met een topcoat. Ik weet wat je denkt en het is OK als je het scherm wilt likken. Ik kon het ook niet laten om mijn nagels te likken... Don't judge!

Deze foto's zijn genomen met natuurlijk licht maar zonder direct zonlicht. Kijk die shimmer! Blauw, fuchsia, silver en zelfs een klein beetje goud. Jum!

These pics were taken in natural light but no direct sunlight. Look at that shimmer! Blue, fuchsia, silver and even a tiny bit of gold. Yum!

Het eerste laagje lakte, laten we eerlijk zijn: slecht. Het is dik, streperig en gewoon teveel werk. Als ik niet had geweten dat verdunner bestond was ik heel teleurgesteld geweest en had ik deze waarschijnlijk weggegooid. Dus ik heb ongeveer tien druppels verdunner toegevoegd en heb een tweede laagje gelakt. Deze ging een beetje beter maar nog steeds verre van perfect.

Nog tien druppels en flink schudden later en daar is het! De formule die ik ken en waar ik van houd van Catrice. Ik wou het niet perfect noemen maar het komt in de buurt. Bovendien, wat kan je nu helemaal verwachten van een nagellak van €1,99?

Wellicht moet ik van mezelf wel de hele collectie kopen, gewoon vanwege de kleuren. Drie taupes! Prachtige blauwen én mintgroenen! Ze zijn de moeite meer dan waard vind ik.

In Nederland wordt Catrice verkocht bij de Trekpleister en de Kruidvat waarbij de eerste vaak de beste selectie heeft.

The first coat went on, well, let's be honest: crappy. It's thick, streaky and just too much hard work. If I didn't know about thinner I would have been very disappointed and probably would have tossed it. So I added about ten drops of thinner and went for the second coat. That went on a little better but still far from perfect.

Another ten drops and a good shake later and there it is! The formula I've always known and loved from Catrice. I wouldn't call it perfect but it does come close. Besides, what do you expect from a €1,99 bottle of polish?

I might just have to buy the entire collection just for the colours. Three taupes! Gorgeous blues ánd mint greens! They are totally worth the trouble imho.

In the Netherlands Catrice is sold at both Trekpleister and Kruidvat with the former usually having the best selection.

I've been on a green streak

Ik weet niet waarom maar de laatste tijd grijp ik steeds naar mijn groenen als ik een mani wil doen. Als je in kleurentherapie gelooft staat groen voor zelfrespect, balans en harmonie en heeft het een kalmerend effect. Ik weet niet wat ik daarvan moet vinden maar gezien de hectische tijd waarin ik zit kan ik alle hulp gebruiken dus ik omarm de groen.

I don't know why but lately I find myself reaching for greens almost every time I do a mani. If you believe in colour therapy green stands for self-respect, balance and harmony and has a calming effect. I'm not really sure about that but considering the hectic times I'm in I can use all the help I can get so I'm embracing the green.

Dit is Asos by Ciaté Pixie, een prachtige groene creme. Deze foto is genomen na drie dagen dragen waarin ik aardig hard voor mijn handen ben geweest en zonder dat ik de topcoat ververst heb dus ik ben onder de indruk van de draagtijd!

Ik had drie laagjes nodig om deze dekkend te krijgen. Over de formule is niet veel te zeggen, deze is niet opmerkelijk goed of slecht en hetzelfde geldt voor het kwastje.

Ik ben helemaal gek van deze kleur! IceRozie heeft me deze voor mijn verjaardag in Februari gegeven en ik ben er heel blij mee. Wat ik vooral erg mooi vind is dat ze helder maar toch een beetje stoffig is. Heel interessante lak!

Ik ben heel benieuwd hoe deze zich laat vergelijken met OPI Jade Is The New Black maar die heb ik nog niet binnen. Zodra ik die heb zal ik een vergelijking maken.

I needed three coats to get it opaque. Formula-wise there isn't much to say, it isn't remarkably good or bad and the same goes for the brush.

I really love this colour! IceRozie gave me this one for my birthday in February and I'm so glad she did. I love that it is very bright yet just a little bit dusty. Very interesting polish!

I'm very curious to see how it compares to OPI Jade Is The New Black but I don't have that one yet. As soon as I do I'll make a comparison.

Ik heb niet alleen te weinig tijd gehad om te bloggen maar ook om mijn nieuwe aankopen op te ruimen en gebruikte lakjes terug te zetten dus het was een chaos in huis met overal nagellak.
Tijd om eens te reorganiseren dus!

De Konadlakjes moeten nog een plekje vinden en de lade met treatments en topcoats moet ook nog uitgezocht maar dan is de voorjaarsschoonmaak klaar! Nagellak die ik niet mooi vind of die ik wil swappen, frankenen of weggeven is er nu allemaal uit gefilterd dus het is weer aardig overzichtelijk.

Mijn stash was geordend op kleur maar ik werd een beetje hysterisch van al die verschillende flesjes door elkaar dus ik probeer het nu maar eens op merk.

I did not only have too little time to blog but also to put away my newly acquired pretties and the polishes I used so my house was in chaos. Time to reorganise!

The Konad polishes still need to be put away and the drawer with treatments and topcoats still has to be sorted out but then spring cleaning will be over! Polishes I didn't like or that I want to swap, franken or give away are all filtered out so everything is nice and organized.

My stash was organised by colour but all those different bottles mixed up made me kind of crazy so I'm trying organising by brand for now.

Ik heb een relatief nieuw merk voor jullie vandaag waar ik erg enthousiast over ben! Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics heeft mij een aantal lakjes gestuurd voor review. En ondeugend zijn ze!

Kijk hoe lief de verpakking is!

I have a fairly new brand to show you today that I'm pretty excited about! Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics was kind enough to send me some polishes for review. Cheeky is the right word!

Look a how cute the packaging is!

Ik vind het zo grappig dat de F'N op de sticker censureren maar hun lakjes wel namen als Hot Slut of Wet Dream geven. lol

Deze lakjes heb ik gekregen:

I love how they censor F'N on the sticker but do name their polishes Hot Slut or Wet Dream. lol

These are the polishes I got:

Wet Dream (basecoat), I Like It On Top (topcoat), Hot Slut (zachtrood met een blauwe ondertoon), Two Timer (iridescent oranje-roze sheer) en Cheap Whore (diep robijnrood).

Aan alle flesjes zitten kleine 'motivational' kaartjes zoals deze:

Wet Dream (basecoat), I Like It On Top (topcoat), Hot Slut (soft red with a blue undertone), Two Timer (iridescent orangey pink sheer) and Cheap Whore (deep ruby red).

All the bottles come with cute little 'motivational' notes like these attached:

De eerste is Two Timer. Een sheer oranje-roze. Dit zijn twee laagjes. De kleur komt op de foto niet helemaal over maar op mijn middelvinger en wijsvinger kan je onderaan de gekleurde glans zien. Ik ben niet zo'n fan van sheers maar deze kon wel eens erg mooi zijn over zwart.

The first one is Two Timer. A sheer orange-pink. This is two coats. The colour doesn't really show in the pic but on my middle finger and index finger you can see the coloured shine. I'm not a big fan of sheers but this one could be very pretty over black.

De volgende is Cheap Whore, een robijnrode jelly-achtige lak. Dit is drie laagjes zonder topcoat. Het zag er in het echt perfect uit maar macro is medogenloos en ik zie dat een extra laagje geen kwaad had gekund. Ik houd van deze kleur! Het is rood maar niet in-your-face-rood. Ik vind deze eigenlijk best wel stijlvol ondanks de naam. ;)

Next up is Cheap Whore, a deep ruby-red jelly-like polish. This is three coats without topcoat. It looked great irl but macro is ruthless and I see an extra coat wouldn't have hurt. I love this colour! It's red but not in-your-face-red. I think it's actually quite classy despite the name. ;)

Hot Slut is een adenbenemende rood. Helaas raakt mijn fototoestel van slag van knalrode nagellak dus de foto's zijn helemaal niet kleurecht. In het echt is Hot Slut een knalrood met blauwe ondertonen in plaats van oranje ondertonen zoals de foto laat zien.

Hot Sluti's a breathtaking red. Unfortunately my camera freaks over bright red polish so the pics arent colour accurate at all. In real life Hot Slut is a bright red with blue undertones instead of orange ones like the pic shows.

Het zonlicht verdween terwijl ik aan het konadden was maar ik wilde jullie toch laten zien wat ik er mee gedaan heb.

I lost daylight while konadding but I wanted to show you what I did with it anyway.

Ik kon het niet laten om hier wat 'slutty' Konad aan toe te voegen met de fishnet en kant patronen van plate M57.

I just couldn't help myself and had to add a little slutty Konad using the fishnet and lace designs from plate M57.

De kwaliteit is geweldig! De formule glijdt op je nagels en is heel erg makkelijk om mee te werken. Voor $15 per flesje (ik weet niet zeker of dat Canadese of Amerikaanse dollars zijn) zijn ze een beetje aan de prijs maar ze zijn dat ook absoluut waard vind ik.

Wet Dream was mijn eerste stickey basecoat en ik ben er erg blij mee. Ik neem even een pauze van versterkers en behandelingen omdat ik vermoed dat mijn nagels het daar beter bij doen en ik was nog op zoek naar een gewone basecoat dus deze kwam als geroepen!

I Like It On Top geeft een mooie glans maar na twee dagen had ik een aantal kleine chips en het is helaas geen sneldrogende topcoat. Ik heb gewoon geen geduld meer voor langzaam drogende topcoats dus ik heb vals gespeeld met Diamont en heb ILIOT als refresher coat gebruikt. Daarvoor beviel deze me wel erg goed en mijn konad heeft het ruim een week uitgehouden.

The quality is great! The formula applies like a dream and is smooth and easy to work with. At $15 (not sure if this is Canadian $$ or American $$) they are a bit pricey but they are definitely worth it imho. I would put it right up there with RBL.

Wet Dream is my first stickey basecoat and I'm glad I got it. I'm taking a break from hardeners and treatments because I suspect my nails will fare better by it and I've been looking for a good normal basecoat so this came at just the right time!

I Like It On Top gives a beuatiful shine but I had a couple of minor chips after two days and it isn't quick-dry unfortunately. I don't have the patience any more for slow-drying topcoats so I cheated with Diamont and used ILIOT as a refresher coat. I did really like it for that purpose and my konad lasted for over a week with that.

Wat betreft de namen, dit zegt Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics erover:

"De meerderheid van de vrouwen die ik ken zijn verantwoordelijk voor hun familie or baan en zijn maatschappelijk bewust, ze zorgen goed voor zichzelf, dragen graag makeup en nagellak. De vertaling zal niet helemaal kloppen maar dit is ongeveer het idee. ;)

Ik vind de namen grappig maar ik ben dan ook niet snel beledigd. Wat vind jij van ze?

As for the names, well, this is what Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics has to say about them:

"The vast majority of women I know are responsible either for family or job and are community conscious, they take care of themselves, like to wear makeup and nail polish. Hoi allemaal! Eerst een kleine reminder voor mijn Europese lezers: hebben jullie al ingeschreven voor mijn giveaway?

Ik had gisteren eindelijk weer eens tijd om een fatsoenlijke mani te doen dus hier is China Glaze Grape Pop, gestempeld met China Glaze LOL en Konad plate M64. Ik houd van ton sur ton manis!

I finally had the time to do a proper mani again yesterday so here is China Glaze Grape Pop stamped with China Glaze LOL and Konad plate M64. I really love ton sur ton manis!

Just in case anyone is wondering about this: Grape Pop is just as deep purple as P2 Chic but Chic is a tad more red. If I can find the time this week I'll try to do a comparison because I haven't done those in a while.

Mijn flesje Grape Pop was spiksplinternieuw maar had toch wat verdunner nodig. Dat hoor ik veel meer van anderen op forums en blogs. Ik weet niet helemaal wat ik daarvan moet vinden maar ik heb bootladingen met verdunner dus het was voor mij geen probleem. Na een paar druppels en even goed schudden was de formule prima.

Dit is twee laagjes over Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics Wet Dream (basecoat) en met Nubar Diamont. Daarna heb ik gestempeld en nog een laagje Diamont aangebracht.

My bottle of Grape Pop was brand new but needed to be thinned anyway. I've heard this a lot from others on forums and blogs. Not quite sure how I feel about that but I have boatloads of thinner so it wasn't a problem for me. After a couple of drops and a good shake the formula was great.

This is two coats over Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics Wet Dream (basecoat) with Nubar Diamont. Then I stamped it and applied another layer of Diamont.

Dat was het weer voor vandaag. Morgen ben ik vrij en gaan we eindelijk onze nieuwe fietsen laten aanmeten. Hopelijk valt de levertijd mee want ik kan niet wachten om eindelijk weer lekker boodschappen op de fiets te doen. Wie weet kan ik deze zomer zelfs wel op de fiets naar college. Sorry dat het zo lang geduurd heeft om deze giveaway online te zetten. Het is zo hectisch hier nu dat ik er gewoon niet eerder aan toe ben gekomen.

Chic At School

De laatste dagen waren hier wat hectisch vanwege de herstart van mijn studie en de papierwinkel die daarbij komt kijken en daarnaast natuurlijk het plannen van de bruiloft die nu toch wel erg dichtbij komt. Dat zal de komende weken helaas ook nog wel zo blijven terwijl ik probeer in het nieuwe ritme te komen.

Het is wel weer wennen om colleges te volgen en de boeken in te moeten duiken maar ik heb er zin in! Helaas heb ik daardoor niet zoveel tijd om mijn nagels te doen maar dat zal heus wel weer komen.

The last few days were a bit hectic due to the restart of my study and the paperwork that is involved in that and of course planning the wedding that is getting very close. Unfortunately things will probably stay that way for the next few weeks while I try to get back into the rhythm. It takes some getting used to to follow classes and hit the books again but I'm looking forward to it! Unfortunately this means I don't have a lot of time to do my nails but I'm sure that will chance when things calm down again.

Vandaag heb ik op mijn nagels P2 Chic die jullie al gezien hebben in mijn post met P2 swatches. Een mooie donkerpaars met rode ondertonen. Deze is nagenoeg dekkend in een laagje maar de macrofunctie is medogenloos dus ik heb twee laagjes gedaan voor de zekerheid.

Om het een beetje leuker te maken heb ik op mijn ringvingers een Konadstempel gemaakt met het tas-patroon van plate M16 en Konad Special Polish Pastel Violet.
Ik gebruik graag normale lakken voor stempelen maar in mijn ervaring zijn lichtere kleuren en zwart en wit vaak niet dekkend genoeg dus daarvoor gebruik ik dan toch liever Konad lakjes.

Today I'm wearing P2 Chic that you have already seen in my post of P2 swatches. A nice dark purple with red undertones. This one is pretty much opaque in one coat but the macro setting is ruthless so I did two just to be sure.

To liven it up a bit I added a Konad stamp on my ringfingers with the purse design from plate M16 and Konad Special Polish Pastel Violet. I love using regular polishes for stamping but i've found that light colours and black and white usually aren't opaque enough to really show so I prefer Konad polishes for those. Tips And Tricks: How To Repair a Broken Nail

Het is ons allemaal wel eens gebeurt: je nagels zijn net op een lengte die je mooi vindt en dan scheurt of breekt een van je nagels. Je kunt de gescheurde nagel afknippen en al je nagels kort vijlen maar als de nagel er niet volledig af is dan kan je ook proberen om hem te repareren.

It happens to us all: your nails are finally at your desired length and then one of them breaks or tears. You can cut the broken nail off and file all your nails short but if the nail is still somewhat attached you could also try to repair it.

Dit zijn de benodigdheden om een gescheurde of gebroken nagel te repareren:

These are the things you need to fix a broken nail:

Nagellijm (neem er een met een kwastje)
Silk Wraps (Dit zijn voorgevormde en zelfklevende maar je kunt dit ook per velletje kopen en zelf op maat knippen)
Een houten bokkepootje
Een pincet
Een nagelvijl
Bufferblok (Ik vind deze fijn maar een andere vier- of zesvoudige buffer zal ook wel werken)
Schaar (Staat niet op de foto)

Heb je een gebroken nagel maar geen silk wraps in huis? Deze methode werkt ook met een theezakje! De papieren variant werkt redelijk maar houdt wel minder lang maar de piramidezakjes werken net zo goed als een echte silk wrap!

Nail glue (preferably a brush on glue)
Silk Wraps (These are pre-cut and self-adhesive but you can also buy this as a sheet and cut them to size yourself)
An orange stick
Tweezers
A nail file
Buffer block (I prefer this one but any four or six-way buffer should work)
Scissors (Not in the picture)

Do you have a broken nail but no silk wraps? This method also works with tea bags! The paper kind works fairly well but won't hold as long, the pyramid bags work just as well as real silk wraps!

De eerste stap is om voorzichtig de oude nagellak zoveel mogelijk te verwijderen.

The first step is to remove as much of the old polish as possible.

Dit is mijn zielige gescheurde rechterwijsvinger. De nagel is tot 3/4 ingescheurd.
Omdat dit een erge scheur is heb ik eerst een klein beetje nagellijm aan de linkerkant in de scheur gedaan zodat mijn nagel zijn vorm kan behouden terwijl ik de verdere reparatie doe maar bij kleinere scheurtjes is dit niet nodig. Nadat ik het drupje lijm in de breuk heb gedaan heb ik met het houten bokkepootje de delen van mijn nagel op elkaar gedrukt tot de lijm droog genoeg was om het op zijn plek te houden.

This is my poor torn right index nail. The nail is torn 3/4 of the way.
Because this is a bad tear I put a little bit op nail glue on the left of the tear so the nail can keep it's shape while I do my repair but you don't need to do this for smaller tears. After I put the glue in the tear I used an orange stick to keep both parts of my nail together until the glue was dry enough to hold on it's own.

Daarna haal je de achterkant van de silk wrap en plak je deze over de gehele nagel waarbij je een 'gap' vrijlaat bij je nagelriemen. Ik gebruik hierbij een pincet omdat ik niet teveel aan de plakkant van de wrap wil komen met mijn vingers.

Then you peel off the back of the silk wrap and stick the silk wrap over your entire nail but leaving a gap at the cuticle. I use tweezers for this because I don't want to touch the sticky side of the wrap with my fingers.

Knip voorzichtig de wrap met een schaar op maat zonder in je eigen nagel te knippen.

Carefully cut the wrap to size with scissors without cutting your natural nail.

Breng nu een laagje nagellijm aan over de gehele silk wrap waarbij je ook weer een kleine 'gap' vrijhoudt bij je nagelriemen om te voorkomen dat je de nagel aan je huid vast plakt. Naast het feit dat het onprettig voelt kan er dan lucht onder de wrap komen en in die ruimte kunnen nare bacteriën en schimmels gaan groeien. Als er wel lucht onder de wrap komt na een paar dagen, week deze er dan volledig af en vervang hem voor een nieuwe.

Now you can put a coat of nail glue over the entire silk wrap leaving a gap near the cuticle to prevent glueing your nail to your skin. That wouldn't only be uncomfortable but it can also cause air to get under the wrap which can cause nasty bacteria and fungals to grow under the wrap. If you do get air bubbles under the wrap after a few days just soak off the wrap completely and apply a new one.

Als de lijm volledig droog is kan je een tweede laagje nagellijm aanbrengen. Laat ook deze weer goed drogen. Bij ernstige breuken zoals de mijne zou je vervolgens een tweede silk wrap aan kunnen brengen met nog twee laagjes lijm.

After the glue has dried completely you can put on a second coat. Let this dry completely too. With serious breaks like mine you could to a second wrap and two more coats of glue.

Als de lijm goed droog is (het droogt mat) pak je je buffer en vijl je voorzichtig je nagel glad. Let op dat je niet door de silk wrap buffert maar vijl alleen oneffenheden weg.
When the glue is completely dry (it dries matte) you take out your buffer and gently file your nail smooth. Be careful not to file through the silk wrap and only file away the uneven parts.

Vijl met een normale vijl ook de overstekende stukjes van de wrap glad.

Use a regular file to file away any pieces of silk wrap that extend past the free edge.

Je nagel is gerepareerd en klaar voor nagellak!

Your nail is fixed and ready for polish!

Afhankelijk van welke remover je gebruikt kan zo'n reparatie tot zelfs drie weken blijven zitten.
Ik ben zelf allergisch voor acetonvrije remover en ik lak mijn nagels vaak dus bij mij blijft dit niet heel erg lang zitten maar door af en toe een nieuw laagje lijm aan te brengen kan ik dat nog wel rekken tot ongeveer anderhalf á twee weken. Niet slecht voor iemand die bijna dagelijks lakt toch? Gebruik je acetonvrije remover en lak je je nagels minder vaak dan zou de wrap moeten kunnen blijven zitten tot de breuk volledig is uitgegroeid.

Depending on what remover you use this wrap can hold up for up to three weeks. I am allergic to acetone-free remover and I polish my nails a lot so mine won't stay on that long but with an extra coat of glue every now and then I can stretch it to about a week and a half or two weeks. Not bad for someone who polishes almost daily is it? If you use acetone-free remover and don't polish your nails this much the wrap should be able to hold until the break has grown out.

Om de wrap te verwijderen gebruik je dezelfde methode als voor glitternagellak. Doe een beetje pure aceton op een watje of stukje vilt, leg dit op je nagel, pak je vingertop in met aluminiumfolie en laat een paar minuutjes zitten. Daarna veeg je zonder problemen de gehele wrap in een beweging van je nagel.

To remove the wrap you can use the same method as I use for glitter nail polish. Soak a cottonpad or piece of felt in pure acetone, put it on your nail and wrap your fingertip in tin foil and leave it for a couple of minutes. Then you can just swipe the whole thing off in one clean swipe.

Gelukkig had ik nog net even tijd om deze te plakken voor de visite kwam maar erg netjes was die reparatie niet dus die heb ik nog eens over gedaan en daarbij gelijk foto's gemaakt zodat ik jullie kan laten zien hoe je een gebroken nagel kunt repareren.

When I got the cake out of the oven I banged my indexfinger and my nail broke 3/4 off. Luckily I had just enough time to glue it back together before the guests arrived but that repair wasn't very good so I did it over today and made pictures to show you how you can repair a broken nail.

Comparison: Art de Lautrec

Daph wilde graag weten hoe Art de Lautrec #25 was vergeleken met Essie Angora Cardi dus ik heb een snelle vergelijking gemaakt. Sorry voor de toestand van mijn nagelriemen, ik was aan het swatchen en aceton droogt behoorlijk uit.

Daph wanted to know how Art de Lautrec #25 compared to Essie Angora Cardi so I made a quick comparison. Sorry about the state of my cuticles, I was swatching and acetone is pretty drying.

Op mijn nagels in dezelfde volgorde, allemaal met drie laagjes en een topcoat:

Zoals je kunt zien is Angora Cardi donkerder en meer paars en Misa Runway Diva is rozer en wat meer helder maar Essence Spot On komt wel heel dicht in de buurt!
Spot On heeft iets meer grijs en is wat stoffiger maar ze liggen zo dicht bij elkaar dat je ze naar mijn mening niet beide hoeft te hebben als je niet heel erg van dit soort kleuren houdt.

As you can see Angora Cardi is darker and more purple and Misa Runway is more pink and a bit brighter but Essence Spot on is really close! Spot On has a bit more grey and is a little more dusty but they are so close I don't think you need both unless you really lose these colours.

Beide zijn goed dekkend in drie dunne laagjes maar de Essence lakt toch net iets prettiger vind ik zelf. Daarnaast is prijs natuurlijk ook belangrijk. Art de Lautrec is met €3,05 absoluut niet duur maar Essence is toch nog flink goedkoper en bovendien komen er geen bezorgkosten overheen. Bij twijfel tussen deze twee zou ik dus voor de Essence gaan.

Both are opaque in three thin coats but the Essence applies just a little bit better in my opinion. The price is also an issue of course. Art de Lautrec isn't expensive at €3,05 but Essence still is a lot cheaper and you don't have to pay for shipping. So if you are thinking of getting one I would go for the Essence.

Heeft iedereen een leuke Valentijnsdag gehad? Wij hebben al moeite genoeg om de datum te onthouden dat we elkaar hebben leren kennen dus aan dit soort feestdagen beginnen we al helemaal niet. (Serieus, we zijn nu bijna 10 jaar samen en we hebben het nog NOOIT op de jusite dag gevierd. We denken er altijd pas een week of twee later aan.)
We hebben lekker zoals elke zondag wat series gekeken en zijn het bos in geweest met de honden. Ik heb ook eindelijk de RRS feed rechtsboven gefixt dus als je The Dutch Nail Blog liever op die manier volgt kan dat!

Did everyone have a good Valentines Day? We have trouble enough remembering our own anniversary so we're not even bothering with this type of holliday. (Seriously, we've been together for almost 10 years now and we have NEVER remembered to celebrate it at the right date. We always think about it a week or two later.)
We've spent this day like every other sunday. Catching up on shows we watch and going to the woods with our dogs. I've also finally fixed the RRS feed on the top right so if you'd rather follow The Dutch Nail Blog that way you can!

Dit zijn nog twee van de Art de Lautrec lakjes die ik van Alice And Jo's Havesentials heb gekregen voor review.

These are two more of the Art de Lautrec polishes Alice And Jo's Havesentials sent me for review.

#25 is een mooie en een beetje stoffige oudroze/mauve. Ook deze gaf geen problemen met lakken en was na drie laagjes dekkend. Ik vind het mooi maar op zich is een mauve creme natuurlijk niet zo heel bijzonder dus ik heb er een laagje #10B overheen gedaan, een doorzichtige lak met een holografisch glittertje.

#25 is a pretty and a bit dusty mauve. This one also didn't give me any trouble with the application and was opaque after three coats. I like it but a mauve creme isn't very special so I added a coat of #10B, a clear with a holographic glitter.

Mooi delicaat glittertje hè? Ik ben al heel lang op zoek naar een glitter die ik over konad kan gebruiken en dit kon het wel eens zijn. Er moet wel een laagje topcoat overheen want ze is een beetje korrelig maar niet heel erg dus een laagje is voldoende.

Pretty and delicate glitter isn't it? I've been looking for a glitter I could use over Konad and this could be it. It does need a topcoat because it dries a bit grainy but not very much so one coat is enough.

Ik heb nog een Art de Lautrec lak om te laten zien deze week en verder heb ik nog wat Essence en P2 in de planning en een giveaway! Ik verklap nog niet wat je kunt winnen maar ik ga proberen om het voor donderdag te posten. Hopelijk is mijn pakje op tijd hier!

Sorry voor mijn afwezigheid de afgelopen dagen. Mijn vriend is begin februari jarig en ik de 22e en dat betekend altijd een maand lang verjaardagsvisite en logees dus ik heb niet veel tijd gehad om te posten. Daarnaast zijn we druk met de voorbereidingen voor ons trouwfeest in April dus het is allemaal een beetje hectisch. Hopelijk kan ik snel weer wat meer gaan posten.

Sorry about my lack of posts the past few days. My boyfriend's birthday is in the beginning of February and mine the 22nd which always means a month full of birthday parties and overnight guests so I didn't have much time to post. We're also very busy with planning for our wedding in April it's a bit hectic here. I hope I'll be able to post more soon.

Taking the time to polish your nails or do your make-up, taking 50 pictures in different positions and lighting to get the most colour accurate and flattering pictures, sifting through these pictures to find the best ones, cropping and watermarking if necessary, uploading, writing a post, adding the pictures, check your post to see if it looks good, check for spelling mistakes, delete some of the post, adding other paragraphs, double check again and when all that is done you publish the post for people to read.

Sure, we bloggers mainly blog for ourselves. It's a hobby and most of us have fun with our blogs but it definitely helps that people out there take an interest. I'm really happy so many of you choose to check my blog almost daily and sometimes leave a comment. That is half, if not more, of the fun of blogging!

Which is why I would like to point out Jellynat's blog to you. I've been going through her blog and it amazes me that she has been blogging for about 5 months now and only just now reached 50 followers! She has great pics, interesting articles and her writing style is both personal and informative. She deserves more followers so you need to check her out!

Hier is mijn probleem: Ik kan best schattige nagels maken en ik draag ook heus wel eens roze nagellak maar roze én schattig? Dat past gewoon niet bij mij.
Vandaar dat ik dus gegaan ben voor een minder voor de hand liggende nagellak: China Glaze For Audrey.

Pink Holo!

Het heeft hier weer de hele dag gesneeuwt. Heerlijk! Ik had dus mooi de tijd om wat swatches te doen. Dit is Art de Lautrec #13B. Een mooie roze met subtiel holo effect.

It has been snowing here all day. Great! This gave me the perfect opportunity to do some swatches. This is Art de Laurtec #13B. A nice pink with a subtle holo effect.

Dit is drie laagjes zonder topcoat omdat topcoat vaak het holo effect verminderd. De formule is een beetje vergelijkbaar met de China Glaze Kaleidoscope holo's maar iets minder korrelig.

This is three coats without a topcoat because topcoat can effect the holo. The formula is comparable to the China Glaze Kaleidoscopes but a little less gritty.

Scarab Manicure

Voor deze look heb ik weer een Art de Lautrec gebruikt die Alice And Jo's Havesentials me gestuurd hebben. Deze keer heb ik #15 als basis gebruikt, #07B voor de french en China Glaze Hi-Tek met Konad plate C01 uit de Coraline set voor de stempel.

For this look I used another Art de Lautrec polish that Alice And Jo's Havesentials sent me. This time I used #15 as a base, #07B for the french and China Glaze Hi-Tek with Konad plate C01 from the Coraline kit for stamping.

#15 is een prachtige chocolademelkkleurige creme. Ik heb deze vergeleken met alle taupe en bruine nagellak die ik had en er was er niet een die in de buurt kwam dus deze is helemaal uniek in mijn verzameling!

De formule was deze keer goed. Het vloeide makkelijk en was dekkend in drie laagjes (normaal voor mij) maar ik heb er vier gedaan omdat de macrofunctie iedere imperfectie laat zien.

#15 is a beautiful chocolate milk coloured creme. I compared it too every taupe and brown polish I have and none of them came close so it's totally unique in my collection!

The formula on this one was good. It flowed easy on the nail and was opaque in three coats (normal for me) but I did four because macro setting shows every imperfection.

Deze is genomen in de schaduw en de kleur klopt in deze foto iets beter. Ik weet dat veel donkere dames zoeken naar de perfecte 'mannequin handen' kleur en dit zou het voor sommige van jullie wel eens kunnen zijn!

This was taken in the shade and the colour is a bit more accurate in this picture. I know a lot of darker ladies are looking for their perfect 'mannequin hands' colour and this just might be it for some of you!

My Rings

Ik krijg altijd veel vragen over mijn ringen dus ik zal ze maar eens beter laten zien.

I always get a lot of questions about my rings so I guess I'll show them a little better.

Mooi zijn ze hè? Helaas voor jou zijn ze niet zomaar te koop.

Pretty aren't they? Unfortunately for you, you can't buy them anywhere.

Het zijn silver splint ringen. Ik heb een vorm van reuma die o.a. de gewrichten van mijn vingers aantast.
Vervelend, maar de ringen zijn geen straf. Ik vind ze eigenlijk zelfs heel mooi! Een uniek sieraad dat speciaal voor mij op maat is gemaakt. Wat wil een meisje nog meer?

They are silver splint rings and are meant to support my joints. I have a type of arthritis and this affects, among other things, the joints in my fingers.
Annoying but the rings are not that bad. I actually really like how they look! A unique piece of jewelery that is made and fitted especially for me. What more can a girl wish for?

Ooooh... Brown Holo!

Alice And Jo's Havesentials heeft mij een aantal Art de Lautrec nagellakken gestuurd voor review en dit is daar een van.

Alice And Jo's Havesentials sent me a couple of Art de Lautrec polishes for review and this is one of them.

Bruine holo glitter! Deze is zo mooi! Dit is drie laagjes met een topcoat.
Helaas hebben ze geen namen maar dit is #07B.

Brown holo glitter! This one is pretty! This is three coats with a topcoat.
Unfortunately these don't have names but this is #07B.

De formule van deze lak is een beetje vreemd. Het deed me heel erg denken aan de glitterlijm waar ik vroeger mijn schoolagenda mee versierde. Het lakt niet heel vervelend maar het is wel even wennen.

Normaal begin ik met lakken bij mijn rechter pink en doe dan al mijn nagels en als ik mijn linker duim heb gedaan begin ik gelijk weer bij mijn rechter pink. Met deze formule is dat niet verstandig omdat je dan het eerste laagje meetrekt naar de rand van je nagel. Ik heb de laagjes dus tussendoor even laten drogen en toen had ik geen enkel probleem met lakken.
Normaal houd ik er niet van om te wachten tussen de laagjes maar kom op, bruine holo! Absoluut de moeite waard!

The formula of this polish was a bit strange. It reminded me of the glitter glue I used to decorate my notebook with at school. It's not bad but it did take some getting used to.

Usually I start painting at my right pinky and work my way to my left thumb and when I finish that I immediately start at my right pinky again. With this formula that isn't smart because you'll drag the first coat to the free edge. So I left every coat to dry for a couple of minutes and then I had no trouble with it. I usually don't like to wait in between layers but come on, this is a brown holo! Totally worth it!

Big Fat Fail Day And Some Awesome News!

Ik had een Valentijnsmanicure in gedachten maar na vijf pogingen heb ik het opgegeven. Ik ben blijkbaar niet gemaakt voor schattige nail-art dus hierbij mijn Valentijnsnagels: China Glaze Ruby Pumps!

En ook hier zat het niet mee. Eerst smeer ik meer op mijn vingers da op mijn handen, vervolgens heb ik drie nagels beschadigd met op de bank zitten (Smudge Fixer to the rescue!) en nu zitten er stofjes in mijn topcoat. Vandaag is geen goede dag voor nagellak.
Dit is dus basecoat, drie laagjes Ruby Pumps, topcoat en dan op sommige nagels een laagje Smudge Fixer, nog een laagje Ruby Pumps en nog een laagje topcoat. Godzijdank hebben we aluminiumfolie!

I had a Valentines Day manicure planned but I gave up after five attempts. I guess I'm not made for cutesy nail-art so here are my V-day nails: China Glaze Ruby Pumps!

And again something went wrong. First I painted more finger than nail, then I smudged three nails while sitting on the couch (Smudge Fixer to the rescue!) and now there is dust in my topcoat. Today is not a good day for nailpolish.
So this is a basecoat, three coats op Ruby Pumps, topcoat and then on some nails a coat of Smudge Fixer, another coat of Ruby Pumps and another coat of topcoat. Thank god for foil!

BarryM Grey Konadicure And A Comparison

Hoi allemaal!
Ik ben blij dat ik de Konad weer eens te voorschijn gehaald heb. Wat is dat toch ook leuk om te doen! Ik ben ook wat aan het experimenteren met grotere foto's. Wat vind jij prettiger om te zien, dit of kleiner?

Ik heb voor deze manicure BarryM Grey als basis gebruikt met Essence Caribean Sea uit de Show Your Feet Collectie en plate M64 voor het stempelen. BarryM is een prachtige grijs met een klein beetje blauwe ondertonen. Ik had wat moeite met de formule maar de kleur is het waard en uiteindelijk zit het er toch nog netjes op. Dit zijn drie laagjes met Nubar Diamont, konad en nog een laagje Diamont.

I had a bit of difficulty with the formula but the colour is worth it and it turned out OK in the end. This is three coats with Nubar Diamont, konad an another layer of Diamont.

De Show Your Feet lakjes zijn ge-wel-dig voor Konad! Heel erg gepigmenteerd waardoor ze erg goed te gebruiken zijn voor stempelen en er zitten bovendien heel leuke kleurtjes bij.
Deze collectie is in Nederland nog steeds te koop bij de grotere Kruidvatfilialen en ik raad je zeker aan om er wat van te kopen als je ze tegenkomt.

So How Do You Feel About V-Day?

Het leek me wel leuk om de serie Valentijnsnagels te beginnen met een Anti-Valentijnsmanicure!

Ik heb als basis Zoya Tangy gebruikt omdat het de meest giftige kleur in mijn collectie is. Een mooie heldergroene shimmer maar wel een beetje doorzichtig. Dit zijn vijf laagjes.
Vervolgens heb ik met een linerkwastje en zwarte lak prikkeldraad getekend en een chagrijnige Coraline van plate C05 en twee kleine hartjes van plate M56 gestempeld.

English: I thought it would be a fun idea to start my series of Valentines nails with an Anti-Valentines manicure!

I used Zoya Tangy for the base because it was the most venomous colour in my collection. It's a lovely bright green shimmer but it is a bit sheer. This is five coats. Next I handpainted the barbed wire with a liner brush and black polish and stamped my ringfinger with a grumpy Coraline image from plate C05 and two little hearts from plate M56.

Ik hoop dat iedereen het nieuwe adres van mijn blog heeft gevonden! 100+ followers al, wat is dat snel gegaan! Bedankt dat je me volgt. Ik waardeer het heel erg dat jullie de tijd nemen om mijn geklets te lezen en mijn foto's te bekijken.
Zo, genoeg geslijm. Op naar de foto's!

So, enough with the mushy stuff. On to the pics!

Dit is een oudje uit het archief omdat ik gisteren en vandaag zo druk ben geweest met de verhuizing dat ik geen tijd heb gehad om te lakken. Deze foto's zijn volgens mij van afgelopen zomer en zoals je ziet had ik nog niet helemaal uitgevogeld hoe mijn camera werkt want het zijn niet de beste foto's.

English: This is an old one from the vault because I've been so busy with the move that I haven't had time to polish my nails. I think these pics are from last summer and as you can see I hadn't yet figured out how my camera worked because the pics aren't the best.

In de schaduw zodat je de flakies beter ziet. Ik draag Nfu Oh #235 met #50 daar overheen.
235 is een prachtige lavendel creme. Helaas was de lak behoorlijk gescheiden dus ik had VEEL verdunner nodig om alles weer gemixt te krijgen en dat deed de applicatie geen goed. Na deze mani heb ik hem een nachtje open laten staan en toen was de formule wel weer handelbaar.
50 is een lichtpaarse jelly met blauw-groene flakies.

English: In the shade so you can see the flakies better. I'm wearing Nfu Oh #235 topped with #50.
235 is a beautiful lavender creme. Unfortunately my bottle had separated significantly so I had to use a LOT of thinner to get it all mixed up again and this didn't help application. After this mani I left it open for a night and that made the formula workable again.
50 is a light purple jelly with blue-greenish flakies.

Ik ben van plan om de rest van de week weer eens wat nail-art te laten zien want dat is veel te lang geleden. Misschien gooi ik er zelfs nog wel een valentijnsdag mani tussen!

Dusty Green Franken

Dit is een van de eerste frankens die ik een tijdje geleden gemaakt heb. Helaas kan ik het recept niet geven want ze bestaat deels uit een mislukte franken die ik eerder gemaakt had en deels uit Wild&More nagellakjes.

English: This is one of the first frankens I made a while ago. Unfortunately I can't give you the recipe because part of it is a failed franken I made earlier and part Wild&More polishes.

Ik vind de kleur heel mooi maar applicatie was verschrikkelijk. Wild&More heeft mooie kleuren maar is niet de beste kwaliteit. Het was gewoon een streperige bende maar ik ga deze waarschijnlijk toch nog wel vaker dragen. ;)

English: I really like the colour but the application was horrible. Wild&More has great colours but not the best quality. It was just a streaky mess but I'll probably wear it again anyway. ;)

En nu nog wat andere zaken. Zoals je misschien is opgevallen heb ik de naam van mijn blog veranderd. Mijn naam was eigenlijk niet zo geschikt maar destijds kon ik niets beters verzinnen. Thess kwam met deze suggestie en ik ben er helemaal weg van dus bij deze. ;)

Verder ben ik een aantal keren getagd voor twee verschillende awards.

1. I ben verslaafd aan thee. Ik heb minimaal 40 verschillende soorten thee in mijn kastje zonder de smaakjesthee mee te tellen.
2. Ik verkies winter boven zomer en Finland, Zweden en Noorwegen boven de Caraïbische Eilanden.
3. Ik heb allemaal dezelfde sokken omdat ik er een hekel aan heb om ze uit te zoeken. Nu kan ik ze allemaal in een mand dumpen en er gewoon twee uit trekken die dan altijd matchen.
4. Ik heb een slijterij gerund en heb een grote collectie likeuren, whiskeys, vodka's en wijnen hoewel ik zelden drink.
5. Ik houd van koken en maak alles zelf.
6. Ik heb veel te veel apparaten en gereedschappen in mijn keuken.
7. Voor we onze eigen vaatwasser hadden pakten we de afwas wel eens in en namen we het mee naar mijn schoonouders om het daar in de vaatwasser te stoppen.

Omdat ik deze al eens gedaan heb nomineer ik ook nu niet een aantal bloggers maar weer iedereen die deze award nog niet gehad heeft en graag mee wil doen!

6. I have way to many kitchen appliances and utensils for my very small kitchen.
7. Before we got our own dishwasher we sometimes packed up our dirty dishes and went to my in laws to use theirs.

Viva la Diva #61

Viva la Diva #61 is ook weer een van de lakjes uit de swap met Anna en ook dit is weer een exclusief Zweeds merk.
Niet heel erg dekkend maar wel een erg mooie paars met blauwe, zilveren en fuchsia shimmer! Dit zijn vier laagjes en op de foto lijkt ze nog niet helemaal dekkend maar irl zie je daar niks van.

English: Viva la Diva #61 is another one of the polishes I got in my swap with Anna and this is also a brand that is exclusive to Sweden.
Not very opaque but it is a very nice purple with blue, silver and fuchsia shimmer! This is three coats and in the pic it doesn't seem very opaque but irl it looks fine.

Zie je die fantastische glans? Het lijkt haast alsof mijn nagels nat zijn. En dat zonder topcoat!

English: Do you see that amazing shine? It's almost as if my nails are wet. And all that without topcoat!

Ik denk dat ik deze de volgende keer eens ga proberen over een andere lak.

Catrice Purple Passion Deep Purple

Nadat ik een post van Scandalously Polished over deze collectie zag heb ik deze toch maar eens uit mijn helmer gevist want het was nog steeds een untried.

English: After seeing a post at Scandalously Polished about this collection I decided to dig this one up from the helmer because it was still in my untrieds.

Deep Purple doet haar naam eer aan. In het schemerdonker lijkt ze zwart maar in het licht is het een heel dieppaarse rokerige vampy paars.

English: Deep Purple lives up to it's name. In low light she looks black but in the light she is a very deep purple smokey vampy purple.

De andere reden dat ik deze voor de dag heb gehaald is omdat Thess me wees op Diamond Cosmetics Crushed Velvet, een soortgelijke rokerige donkerpaars, die ze wel wat voor mij vond. Helaas heb ik die nog niet anders had ik een vergelijking gedaan maar ze had wel gelijk, ik houd van dit soort kleuren!

The other reason I dug this one up is because Thess pointed out Diamond Cosmetics Crushed Velvet, a similar smokey dark purple, which she thought was right up my alley.
Unfortunately I don't have that one yet otherwise I would have done a comparison but she was right, I love these kinds of colours!

Muddy Green!

Dit is Depend #172, een van de lakjes die ik bij mijn swap met Anna gekregen heb. Depend is een merk dat exclusief in Zweden verkocht wordt. Qua opzet is het volgens mij vergelijkbaar met merken als Essence en Catrice. Een kleine standaard collectie maar wel regelmatig limited edition collecties.
Als ik me niet vergis is dit er een uit de herfstcollectie.

English: This is Depend #172, one of the polishes I got in my swap with Anna. Depend is a brand that is exclusive to Sweden. I think the concept is simmilar to brands like Essence and Catrice. A small core collection but regular limited edition collection.
This one is from the fall collection if I'm not mistaken.

Ze doet me erg denken aan Illamasqua Hectic maar is volgens mij iets meer olijfgroen en wat donkerder.

English: She reminds me of Illamasqua Hectic but I think this one is a bit more olive green and just a bit darker.

Ik had drie laagjes nodig om het dekkend te krijgen maar dat is normaal voor mij omdat ik dunne laagjes doe.

English: She took three coats to be opaque but that is quite normal for me because I do thin coats.

Ik ben er heel blij mee! Blubbergroen, wat kan ik nog meer wensen?

English: I'm very happy with it! Blubber green, what more can a girl wish for?

New Collection: Catrice Nude Sensation

Ik zag deze vanmorgen en ik kon ze niet laten liggen omdat ik geen enkele nude nagellak bezit.
Ik moet zeggen dat ik een beetje teleurgesteld ben door deze collectie. Catrice heeft normaal gesproken aardig goede nagellakken maar deze waren veel te doorzichtig en streperig.

English: I saw these this morning and I had to pick them up because I don't own any nude polishes.
I must say I was a bit dissapointed by this collection. Catrice usually has some pretty good polishes but there were way to sheer and streaky.

01 Nude Cream. Een melkwitte jelly. Ik heb vier laagjes gedaan en er zijn nog steeds kale plekken maar ik weiger meer dan vier laagjes te lakken van welke lak dan ook.

English: 01 Nude Cream. A milky white jelly. I did four coats and I still have bald spots but I refuse to do more than 4 coats with any polish.

02 Soft Coral. Een doorzichtige babyroze. Ik vind de kleur wel mooi ondanks dat het niet iets is dat ik normaal gesproken draag. Ook nu had ik weer vier laagjes nodig en ze zou nog wel een of twee laagjes kunnen gebruiken.

English: 02 Soft Coral. A sheer baby pink. I like the colour on this one even though it's not something I would normally wear. Again I needed four coats and it could have used one or two more to cover streaks and bald spots.

03 Coral Pink. Dit is inderdaad een koraalroze! Ik weet niet wie besloten heeft dat koraal een goede nude zou zijn maar als iets op mijn lichaam deze kleur had zou ik me ernstig zorgen maken... Eerlijk gezegd vind ik deze echt afschuwelijk bij mijn huidskleur.
Deze had drie laagjes nodig en was wat makkelijker te lakken dan de andere twee. Misschien omdat ze meer pigment heeft?

English: 03 Coral Pink. Oh it's coral alright! I don't know who decided coral would make a good nude but I would be seriously concerned if anything on my body had this colour... Honestly I think this one looks hideous on me.
This is three coats and this one applied a lot better. Maybe this has more pigment?

04 Nude Beige. De naam zegt het al. Ze hebben het beste voor het laatst bewaard bij deze collectie. Deze vind ik erg mooi! Dit is drie laagjes. De applicatie was wederom een stuk beter dan de eerste twee. Mooi gelijkmatige laagjes en niet zo streperig.

Ik had wel een vergelijking willen doen met al deze lakjes maar ik heb alleen iets in mijn collectie dat een beetje op Nude Beige lijkt.

English: 04 Nude Beige. The name says it all. They saved the best for last with this collection. I really like this one! This is three coats. Application was a lot better than the first two. Nice even coats with minimal streaking.

I would have done a comparison of all colours in this collection if I had any but I only had something simmilar to Nude Beige in my collection.

Nude Beige op wijsvinger en ringvinger, Orly Country Club Khaki op middelvinger en pink.
Vergeleken met Nude Beige lijkt de Orly echt een grijs terwijl dat helemaal niet het geval is als je haar op zichzelf ziet.

English: Nude Beige on index and ring finger, Orly Country Club Khaki on middle finger and pinky.
Compared to Nude Beige the Orly looks positively grey which isn't the case at all if you see it on it's own.

Samenvattend: deze kleuren zijn niets voor mij en ik ben blij dat ik daar achter ben gekomen met nagellak van €1,99 in plaats van Essies van €14,-. Ach, ik kan ze altijd nog frankenen.

Bovendien is het best raar dat ze een kleur als koraalroze er wél in stoppen maar dat er geen nude voor donkere mensen in zit. Niemand is koraalroze Catrice! Maar meer dan de helft van deze wereld heeft een andere kleur dan deze lichte kleuren.
Dus ja, baggercollectie.

English: All in all, these colours are not for me and I'm glad I found that out with €1,99 polishes instead of €14,- Essies. I guess I could always franken the lot.

To top that off it's pretty strange that they do add a colour like coral but not a nude for dark-skinned people. Nobody's skin is coral Catrice! But more than half the population of this world has a different colour that these pasty polishes.
So yeah, sucky collection.

Angora Cardi, Or Is It?

Een tijdje geleden heb ik een swap gedaan met IceRozie van MUA. Nou ja, eigenlijk is het meer een voortdurend nagellakuitwisselingsproject. lol

In een van die eerste pakjes zat dit juweeltje als een swap extra. Ze wist dat ik dol ben op Essie's Angora Cardi en ze heeft een holo versie voor me gefrankend!

English: A while ago I did a swap with IceRozie from MUA. Well, actually it's more of an ongoing exchange of polishes. lol

In one of those first packages she was this little gem as a swap extra. She knew I loved Essie's Angora Cardi and she frankened a holo version for me!

Ik ben er echt zo blij mee! Een holo stoffige paars. Kan het nog beter?

English: I'm so happy with this one! A holo dusty purple. Can it get any better?

En de holo is ook zo goed! Gewoon binnenshuis zichtbaar zonder zon of direct lamplicht!
Ze had maar twee laagjes nodig om volledig dekkend te zijn. De echte Angora Cardi ook trouwens.

English: And the holo is so good! Visible indoors without sunlight or direct artificial light!
English: She only needed two coats to be opaque. So did the real Angora Cardi by the way.

Volgens mij vertelde ze dat ze de echte Angora Cardi niet eens gebruikt heeft om deze te maken. Is het niet geweldig hoe goed de kleuren bij elkaar kloppen?!

I think she told me she didn't even use the real Angora Cardi to make this. Can you believe how close she got?!

En nu de titel... De mensen die IceRozie kennen weten dat zij een geweldig geheugen heeft als het op nagellak aankomt. Ze kan van bijna elke lak de naam noemen zonder spieken en ze kan je dan ook gelijk vertellen of er dupes zijn of welke lakken er dicht in de buurt komen.
En daarom vond ik dit erg grappig:

English: Now for the title... The people who know IceRozie know she has an amazing memory when it comes to polishes. She can name just about every one of them without cheating and she can also tell you if there are dupes or which polishes come close.
Which is why I thought this was very funny:

Ik houd nu nog meer van deze lak.

The Lady Is A Tramp!

Hot Damn! Dit kon wel eens de knallendste rood zijn die ik ooit heb gezien!

English: Hot Damn! This might be the brightest red I have ever seen!

Under The Mistletoe is helaas de enige lak uit de Essence All I Want Collectie die ik heb kunnen vinden bij mijn tripje naar Duitsland vorige week maar wat een vondst! Knalrode jelly met rode shimmer die ik alleen kan omschrijven met de afgezaagde term 'lit from within'.
Dit is twee laagjes met een topcoat. Niet volledig dekkend maar dat hoeft met een jelly ook niet. Alleen jammer dat ik hiervoor een donkere nagellak geswatcht heb en de restjes daarvan nog zichtbaar zijn onder mijn nagels.

English: Under The Mistletoe is unfortunately the only polish from the Essence All I Want Collection I was able to find on my trip to Germany last week but what a find! Bright red jelly with a red shimmer that I can only discribe with the corny phrase 'lit from within'.
This is two coats with a topcoat. Not completely opaque but that's OK with a jelly. Unfortunately I swatched a dark polish before this and the remainders of that are still visible under my nails.

Oja, de titel? Dat is iets wat mijn oma zonder twijfel gevonden zou hebben van deze nagellak. ;)

English: Oh yeah, the title? That is totally something my grandmother would have said about this polish. ;)

Ik vind haar mooi! Maar ik weet niet of ik genoeg lef heb om deze buiten de deur te dragen. Oma heeft ons goed getraind. ;)

English: I like her! But I'm not sure if I have the guts to wear it outside. Grandmom trained us well. ;)

P2 Swatches!

Ik heb veel vragen gekregen over P2 nagellak dus het leek me een goed idee om swatches te maken van zoveel mogelijk kleuren zodat we iets hebben om mensen naartoe te verwijzen als ze swatches willen zien.
De geweldige Thess en IceRozie zijn zo vriendelijk geweest me sommige van hun nagellakken te lenen voor deze swatches.

P2 is een drogisterijmerk met een fantastische prijs-kwaliteitsverhouding. Ze kosten €1,55 en de kwaliteit is doorgaans erg goed! Alle swatches zijn twee laagjes zonder topcoat tenzij anders gespecificeerd.

Ben je het al zat om naar mijn raves over P2 te luisteren? Jammer dan want ik ben nog lang niet klaar!
Het blijft me verbazen hoe goed de kwaliteit-prijsverhouding is bij deze lak. Ze zijn niet allemaal geweldig maar ik ben kleuren tegengekomen die zich qua formule makkelijk kunnen meten met OPI.

English: Tired of hearing me rave about P2 already? Too bad, because I'm not finished yet!
I just can't get over how great the quality vs price ratio is on this one. They aren't all great but I've some across colours that can easily compare themselves to OPI formula-wise.

Dit was daar echter niet een van. ;) Nog steeds niet slecht maar wel een beetje streperiger en dikker dan ik gewend ben van P2. Gelukkig kent nagellakverdunner meer gebruiken dan alleen oude stroperige lakken verdunnen. Na een paar drupjes verdunner en even goed schudden was er veel makkelijker mee te werken.
Dit is twee laagjes met base- en topcoat.

English: This wasn't one of them though. ;) Still not bad but more streaky and thick than I'm used to from P2. Luckily nail polish thinner has more uses than just thinning out old goopy polish. After a couple of drops of thinner and a good shake it was much easier to work with. This is two coats with base- and topcoat.

Volgens mijn kleurenkaart is dit een medium violetrood. Irl is ze een haartje donkerder maar verder klopt kleur op de foto aardig. Volgens mij begin ik het fotograferen in een light box onder de knie te krijgen.

English: According to my colour chart this would be medium red violet. Shes just a hair darker írl but otherwise it's pretty colour accurate. I think I'm getting the hang of using my light box.

Ik krijg veel vragen op MUA en in mijn email over P2. Waar het verkocht wordt, welke kleuren ze hebben, etc. dus ik heb een enorme post gepland staan met al die informatie en swatches op een nagel van veel kleuren uit de standaard lijn.

Voor zover ik weet wordt P2 alleen verkocht in Duitsland en Oostenrijk bij de DM Drogeriemarkt. Als jij meer winkels kent die het verkopen of andere landen waar het verkrijgbaar is stuur me dan alsjeblieft een email op mindermutsig at gmail punt com zodat ik die informatie in de post kan opnemen.

English: I've been getting a lot of questions on MUA and in my email about P2. Where it's sold, what colours they have etc. so I have a major post coming up with all that info and one-nail swatches of a lot of their core line colours.

As far as I know P2 is only sold in Germany and Austria at the DM Drogeriemarkt. If you know of other places that sell P2 or other countries it's available in please email me at mindermutsig at gmail dot com so I can include that information in the post.

Even een snelle post zodat er weer wat nagelgerelateerds bovenaan staat. ;)

Dit is een van de nagellakken van mijn eerste online aankopen anderhalf (?) jaar geleden en ik ben misschien iets té impulsief geweest toen. Ik heb gewoon van alles in mijn karretje gegooid wat ook maar enigszins interessant leek en de meeste aankopen waren goed maar deze viel me irl toch wat tegen.

English: This is one of the polishes from my first online orders a year and a half (?) ago and maybe I was a bit too impulsive. I just filled my cart with anything that looked remotely interesting and most of that turned out great but this one was a bit of a disappointment irl.

Dit is de basiskleur maar als het licht er meer op valt zie je de gouden flash.

English: This is the base colour but when the light hits her she flashes gold.

Mijn mening: Ik ben er niet gek op. De applicatie was goed, ze lakt egaal en het kwastje is vrij standaard. Het is een duochrome dus ik zou haar mooi moeten vinden maar ik vind er dus niks aan. Het is gewoon mijn kleur niet.
Een flesje bevat 10ml en wordt verkocht voor €3,99 bij Alice and Jo Havesentials.

English: My opinion: I'm not crazy about it. Application was good, not streaky and the brush is pretty standard. It's a duochrome so I should love it but I don't. It's just not my colour.

Misschien moet ik haar eens over een andere kleur proberen. Zwart? Donkerblauw? Paars?

New look!

Ik was vanmorgen wat met mijn testblog aan het knoeien toen ik erachter kwam dat ik op mijn echte blog bezig was. Oeps! Jullie krijgen dus vervroegd mijn nieuwe look te zien.
Ik weet nog niet of ik deze zo mooi vind dus er kan de komende tijd nog het een en ander veranderen en de blog kan dus soms even een beetje vreemd uitzien als ik met de lay-out bezig ben.

Zoals je ziet staat bovenaan een navigatie menu die ik nog in moet vullen en er is een link naar mijn Twitter. Het menu wil ik gaan gebruiken als short-cut naar posts over hand&nailcare, nagellak die werkt met Konad e.d.
De RRS feed moet ik nog instellen.

Dus niet schrikken als je op mijn blog komt en alles door elkaar staat want dat betekent dat ik er op dat moment mee aan het werk ben. De pagina vernieuwen zal dat in de meeste gevallen oplossen.

Wat vind je van de nieuwe look?

English: I was messing with my test blog this morning when I suddenly discovered I was working on my real blog. Oops! So you are getting to see my new look a little sooner than expected.
I don't know if I like this yet so it's possible there will be more changes in the future and the blog might look a little weird every now and then while I'm working on the and lay-out.

As you can see there is a navigation menu at the top which I still have to fill and there is a link to my Twitter. I plan on using the menu as a short-cut to posts about hand&nail care, polishes that work with Konad etc.
I still have to set-up the RRS feed.

So don't freak out when you come to my blog and it's totally out of whack because that means I'm working on it. Refreshing the page will probably make things OK then.

Wire Stripper!

Mijn anonieme handmodel had niet zoveel zin om nog een keer zijn nagels te laten lakken dus ik laat deze zelf wel zien. ;)

English: My anonymous hand model didn't really feel like having his nails polished again so I'll show you this one myself. ;)

Wire Stripper is een zwart-bruine basis met een brons/koperkleurige shimmer die hem een haast metalige look geeft.

English: Wire Stripper has a blackened brown base with a bronze/copper coloured shimmer which gives it an almost metallic look.

Applicatie was wederom erg goed. Ook deze is dekkend in twee laagjes. Iets anders dat me opgevallen is wat niet vaak genoemd wordt is dat deze allemaal erg makkelijk te verwijderen zijn. Ze glijden met een klein beetje remover zo van je nagels af.

English: Application was again very good. This one is also opaque in two coats. Another thing I noticed and which is often neglected in reviews is that these all are very easy to remove. You only need a little bit of remover to let them glide of your nails.

De laatste in mijn serie BB Couture lakken dus dit lijkt me een mooi moment om een algemeen oordeel te geven. Ik ben erg onder de indruk! Het zijn niet de goedkoopste lakken maar ze zijn hun prijs ook dubbel en dwars waard. De dekking erg over het algemeen erg goed, ze lakken fijn en er zitten erg mooie kleuren bij. Ik ben zeker van plan om er een aantal aan te schaffen in de toekomst.

English: This was the last one in my BB Couture series so this seems like a good time to give a general verdict. I'm impressed! They are a bit pricey but they are worth every penny. Coverage is very good in general, application is a breeze and they have some beautiful colours. I'm definitely planning on buying more in the future.

BB Couture Green Goblin And Some Comparisons

Green Goblin, een van mijn favorieten en ik ben zo blij dat Cindy van BB Couture deze aan mij heeft gestuurd voor review!

Een prachtige mosgroene creme. Er is niet veel over te zeggen. Ze is gewoon geweldig!

Applicatie was deze keer iets minder dan bij de andere twee. De eerste laag was behoorlijk streperig en dun maar met de tweede laag was het al aardig egaal en na de derde laag ziet het er prima uit. Niet dat drie laagjes slecht is hoor want omdat ik zulke dunne laagjes lak heb ik er meestal drie nodig.

Het kwastje is hetzelfde als die van Ravager, goed, maar ik zie ze liever wat korter en breder.

English: Application was a bit more troublesome than with the other two. The first coat was pretty thin and streaky but the second coat evened that out and after the third coat it looks great. Not that three coats is bad by any means because I do very thin coats so I usually need three. The brush is the same as Ravager, good, but I prefer them shorter and wider.

BB Couture Ravager

De Nederlandse term voor mauve is oudroze. Een wat stoffige, gedempte en vervaagde roze. Als dat de omschrijving is voor mauve dan is dit een oudpaars. Ze heeft een wat antieke uiterlijk wat haar absoluut uniek in mijn collectie maakt.

English: The Dutch term for mauve is best translated as 'old' pink. A somewhat dusty, muted and faded pink. If that is the description for mauve then this is an 'old' purple. She has a somewhat antique feel to it which makes her absolutely unique in my collection.

Ravager is een glassflecked nagellak wat zoveel betekent als dat de shimmer geen shimmer of glitter is maar uit haast doorzichtige, glasachtige deeltjes bestaat. Voor meer informatie kan je deze geweldig behulpzame post van The Edge Of Sanity bekijken.
Helaas is dit ook bij deze nagellak weer duidelijker in het flesje dan op de nagel. Volgens mij zou ik deze nog mooier vinden als ze wat meer jelly was zodat de glass flecks zich beter konden laten zien!

English: Ravager is a glassflecked polish which means that the shimmer isn't shimmer or glitter but consists of almost clear, glass-like particles. For more info on polish finishes check this amazingly helpful post by The Edge Of Sanity. Unfortunately with this polish this is again more apparent in the bottle than on the nail. I think I would like her even better is she was a bit more jelly so the glass flecks would show themselves better!

Applicatie was wederom erg goed! Ook Ravager is bijna dekkend in een laagje waarbij je moet onthouden dat ik erg dunne laagjes gebruik.

Het kwastje was deze keer iets minder. Het borsteltje is hetzelfde maar het steeltje is net iets langer waardoor ik er iets meer moeite mee heb. Hij is absoluut niet slecht maar ik houd gewoon van kortere steeltjes en ook van plattere kwastjes. (Teveel verkleinwoordjes!) Volgens mij is dat ook mijn grootste probleem met de kwastjes van China Glaze.

English: Application was again very good! Ravager is also almost opaque in one coat and you'd have to remember that I do very thin coats. I didn't like the brush as much this time. The brush itself is the same but the stem is just a tiny bit longer which gave me a little bit more trouble. It's not bad by any means but I just prefer shorter stems and wider brushes. I think that is also my biggest problem with the China Glaze brushes.

Een oudje vandaag want ik kreeg BB Couture Ravager niet mooi op de foto in mijn lightbox en er is absoluut geen zon vandaag.

English: An oldie today because I couldn't get BB Couture Ravager to photograph nicely in my lightbox and there is absolutely no sun today.

Eerst heb ik mijn nagels gelakt met een witte Kiss nagellak waarvan ik de naam niet meer weet.

English: First I polished my nails with a white Kiss polish that I can't remember the name of.

Daarna ik gestempeld heb met Konad Special Polish Zwart en plate M73, heb een topcoat opgedaan en om het af te maken een laagje China Glaze Matte Magic om het meer op papier te laten lijken.
Ik ben er wel blij mee! Jammer van dat vieze haartje op de foto. :')

English: Then I stamped with Konad Special Polish Black and plate M73, applied a topcoat and finished with a coat of China Glaze Matte Magic to make it look more paper-like.
I like this one! If only there wasn't this nasty little hair in the pic. :')
