Hi there! Eyeko came out with two new polishes called Rain and Saucy and they were kind enough to send me some for review. I actually wore Saucy yesterday but didn't get around to posting it so I'm showing you both today.

If you read my blog regularly you might have noticed I'm not really a red fan and I hate to swoon over a polish I received for review like this because it seems disingenuous but this really is the perfect red. It actually made my heart skip a beat when I opened the package. It's THAT beautiful! I may have found a HG red creme; something I never expected to find because red is just not me. Judge for yourself...

*Swoon* Isn't it gorgeous?! I know other bloggers said it was a one-coater for them but I definitely needed two coats to get it nice and even. Not that I mind though, I'm not fond of one-coaters anyway. I always do a second coat with polishes like that unless I want to layer it.

I really enjoyed wearing this polish as it is but still couldn't leave it alone so yesterday afternoon I stamped it with a patern from an Essence plate to give it a bit of an Asian look. I can't tell you the number for the plate because I bought four different plates and they were only marked #1 and #2. This one had a #1 on it but because I had two different #1 plates I named this one #1A.


I'm really happy with how this turned out! It made me want to dress my hair up with chopsticks and eat Chinese food. Which of course I did. I made Kung Pao chicken for diner. Yum!

Today I'm wearing Rain. A blue-toned grey with a secret silver shimmer that is visible in the bottle but not so much on my nails. Weird because I've seen pictures from other that clearly show the subtle shimmer.


I had a bit more trouble with this one. Not horrible but like most pastels and lighter colours it has a tendency to get goopy so after the second coat I added a couple of drops of thinner to fix that.

Because I love my new nubbins so much and the Konad full-nail plates finally fit, I decided to stamp this one with a patern from plate M74. I've never been able to use this plate because it annoys me when slanted paterns don't cover half my nails but now they do.



I might keep this on for more than one day but if not I have a lilac-purple-white plaid mani planned for tomorrow.

Catrice heeft ons niet alleen een geweldige core line gegeven maar ze blijven ook nog steeds erg mooie (en erg beperkte) limited editions uitbrengen. De meest recente is Oceana.

Niet alle kleuren in deze collectie horen bij het thema vind ik maar wat maakt het uit. Wat wel leuk is, is dat deze collectie twee matte lakjes heeft en dat de kwaliteit erg goed is!

Op naar de swatches.

Pebble Beach, a zachte lichtgrijs. Dit is mijn favoriet uit deze collectie! De finish is meer satijnachtig dan mat maar dat past bij deze kleur ook wel heel erg goed. Dit is twee laagjes en de dekking was erg goed. De formule was prettig om mee te werken omdat deze niet, in tegenstelling tot sommige andere matte lakjes, haast op het kwastje al droog is.






Sea Of Green. Deze mooie turquoise is ook weer meer satijnachtig dan mat en is een goede tweede favoriet. Mooi! Ook deze was dekkend in twee laagjes en droogde eenmaal op de nagel redelijk snel. Dat is altijd erg prettig aan matte lakken. Bij cremes vind ik een satijnachtige finish ook mooier dan echt mat.





Ik hoor om me heen dat dit een matte versie van I Sea You van Catrice zou zijn maar dat is zoals je ziet niet het geval! Om de vergelijking qua kleur goed te kunnen maken heb ik over beide een topcoat gedaan. Op mijn wijsvinger en ringvinger zit I Sea You en op mijn middelvinger en pink Sea Of Green. Zoals je ziet is Sea Of Green donkerder dan I Sea You.





De volgende is Blue Out To Sea. Een donkerblauwe shimmer. Niet heel uniek maar wel mooi. De kobaltblauwe shimmer geeft deze lak net even wat meer diepte.






De laatste is Ocean Sunset. Ik zal er maar gelijk bij vertellen dat deze foto absoluut niet kleurecht is. Als ik alleen deze wilde laten zien had ik de foto niet geplaatst maar omdat ik de hele collectie laat zien wilde ik hem er toch bij doen. Deze lak is niet oranje maar echt brandweerwagenrood! Een prachtige rode jelly die ook weer niet heel uniek is maar als je nog geen rode jelly hebt dan is dit een erg prettige!
Op de foto draag ik twee laagjes zonder basecoat of topcoat.

I had a little sunlight today so I used that to swatch a couple of shimmers from the new Spring/Summer Collection by Catrice. After that the sun failed me but the rest will follow, I just have to get out my light box for those.



Ik moet mijn eerdere opmerkingen over de formule van deze collectie terugnemen. Blijkbaar zijn de problemen die ik had met Poison Me, Poison You beperkt tot die ene lak want met de rest van de collectie heb ik geen problemen gehad. Alleen Sold Out For Ever was iets moeilijker maar dat is ook een pastel en die staan erom bekend.

Alle swatches zijn twee laagjes zonder basecoat of topcoat tenzij anders vermeld.

I have to retract my previous comments on the formula of this collection. I guess the problems I had with Poison Me, Poison You were limited to that polish alone because the rest of the collection gave me no trouble. Only Sold Out For Ever was a bit harder but that is a pastel and they are notorious for it.

All swatches are two coats without basecoat or topcoat unless otherwise stated.



Laat me je voorstellen aan Clay-ton, My Hero. Een greige (grijs/beige) met gouden shimmer en in sommig licht zelfs een zeegroene tint. Deze is zo mooi en delicaat!

De volgende is Blue's Brother, een staalblauwe shimmer. Deze heeft zoveel shimmer dat ze grenst aan een foil. Niet helemaal mijn smaak maar het is wel een vrolijk zomerkleurtje dat ik me wel met leuke sandalen en een rokje zie dragen.

Next up is Blue's Brother, a steelblue shimmer. This has so much shimmer it borders on a foil. Not exactly my taste but it is a fun summer colour and I can see myself wearing it with cute sandals and a skirt.



Big Spender Wanted! Roze met gouden shimmer. Deze doet me denken aan China Glaze Strawberry Fields maar deze is koeler van kleur en heeft minder rood. Mooi, meisjesachtig en zomerig maar niet erg interessant vind ik. Als je nog niet zoiets hebt is deze de moeite waard om te kopen maar het is geen absolute must have.

Big Spender Wanted! Pink with a golden shimmer. This one reminds me of China Glaze Strawberry Fields but it's cooler toned and has less red. Pretty, girly and summery but not very interesting in my opinion. If you don't have something like it, it is worth buying but to me it's not a must have.



Be My Millionaire. Een mooie koele, antiek-uitziende gouden shimmer. Ik ben er vrijwel zeker van dat Catrice heeft geprobeerd Chanel Kaleidoscope te dupen met deze. Ik heb geen idee hoe goed ze hierin geslaagd zijn omdat ik niets vergelijkbaars heb maar van wat ik kan zien heeft Kaleidoscope grotere shimmerdeeltjes. De kleur lijkt echter wel in de buurt te komen.

Be My Millionaire. A pretty cool-toned antique-looking gold shimmer. I'm pretty sure Catrice tried to come close to Chanel Kaleidoscope with this one. I have no idea how close they came because I have nothing like it but from what I can see Kaleidoscope has bigger shimmer particles. The colour seems pretty close though.

Dit is een van de lakjes die ik van IceRozie heb gekregen voor mijn verjaardag. Prachtig! I kon er niet eens overheen konadden. Je moet niet rommelen met perfectie.

De naam is Purple Grey and dat klopt precies. Prachtige rijke mooie modderige paars-grijs. Als ik Models Own om haar hand zou vragen zou ik dan met haar mogen trouwen?

The name is Purple Grey and it is just that. Gorgeous lushious beautiful muddy purple grey. If I would ask Models Own for her hand, do you think they will let me marry her?

Hoi allemaal!
Ik ben blij dat ik de Konad weer eens te voorschijn gehaald heb. Wat is dat toch ook leuk om te doen! Ik ben ook wat aan het experimenteren met grotere foto's. Wat vind jij prettiger om te zien, dit of kleiner?

Ik heb voor deze manicure BarryM Grey als basis gebruikt met Essence Caribean Sea uit de Show Your Feet Collectie en plate M64 voor het stempelen. BarryM is een prachtige grijs met een klein beetje blauwe ondertonen. Ik had wat moeite met de formule maar de kleur is het waard en uiteindelijk zit het er toch nog netjes op. Dit zijn drie laagjes met Nubar Diamont, konad en nog een laagje Diamont.

For this manicure I used BarryM Grey as a base and Essence Caribean Sea from the Show Your Feet Collection and plate M64 for stamping. BarryM is a beautiful grey with some blue undertones. I had a bit of difficulty with the formula but the colour is worth it and it turned out OK in the end. This is three coats with Nubar Diamont, konad an another layer of Diamont.







De Show Your Feet lakjes zijn ge-wel-dig voor Konad! Heel erg gepigmenteerd waardoor ze erg goed te gebruiken zijn voor stempelen en er zitten bovendien heel leuke kleurtjes bij.
Deze collectie is in Nederland nog steeds te koop bij de grotere Kruidvatfilialen en ik raad je zeker aan om er wat van te kopen als je ze tegenkomt.

English: The Show Your Feet polishes are a-ma-zing for Konad! Very pigmented and thus very good for stamping and to top that off they have very nice colours. This collection is still available at some stores and I highly recommend you to pick some up if you see them somewhere.


Ik ben heel blij met deze mani! Dit design is een van mijn favorieten zoals sommigen van jullie misschien wel weten na de lieve post die mijn vriendin Thess gedaan heeft voor mij.

Terwijl ik dit schrijf wacht ik op de zon die hopelijk ook vandaag weer door het wolkendek zal breken voor een uurtje zoals ze dat iedere dag gedaan heeft de afgelopen week. Ik houd van mijn lightbox, maar ik denk dat foto's in de zon beter zijn. Vooral met holo's! En wat ik jullie vandaag wil laten zien is Diamond Cosmetics Chainmail Charm.

Een grijzere, bruinere en zachtere versie van de favoriet van de nagellakwereld, OPI My Private Jet. Ik ben niet zo gek op MPJ, ze is te hard voor me. Daarbij scoort CC punten omdat ze meer blubberig is. ;)

English: A greyer, browner and softer version of the longtime favourite of the polish community OPI My Private Jet. I'm not crazy about MPJ, it's to harsh for me. Plus, CC scores points for being more blubbery. ;)




In het ene licht is ze grijs, in het andere licht bruin en hoewel de holo erg aanwezig is verstopt deze zich soms even om je vervolgens omver te blazen als je beter kijkt.

English: In some lights she's grey, in other light she's brown and although the holo is very present it sometimes hides a bit only to sweep you off your feet when you take a closer look.




Dit is drie laagjes met een topcoat. Ja, ik zei topcoat! Ik weet dat sommige mensen zeggen dat je geen topcoat met holo's moet gebruiken omdat ze het holo-effect aantasten maar in mijn ervaring hangt dat volledig af van de formule van de nagellak. Er zijn holo's zoals de Nfu Oh holo's die een beetje droog en zanderig zijn, alsof iemand meel in de nagellak heeft gegooid. Deze drogen ook semi-mat. Dat is de formule die niet tegen een topcoat kan en als je wel een topcoat gebruikt gaat het holo-effect grotendeels verloren. Op holo's met een gladde finish die lakken als euh, nagellak, heeft topcoat bijna geen effect.

English: This is three coats with a topcoat. Yes I said topcoat! I know some people say you shouldn't use a topcoat with holo's because it kills the effect but I've found it depends on the formula of the polish. There are holo's like the Nfu Oh holos which seem a bit dry or sandy, like someone poured flour in the polish, and those also dry semi-matte. That is the formula that doesn't play well with a topcoat and if you do use a topcoat you will lose a lot of the holo-effect. Holo's that have a smooth finish and polish like, eh, polish are hardly effected by a topcoat.



Gisteren was mijn lakdag maar we hadden bezoek dus ik kwam er niet aan toe. Ik hoop dus dat ik morgen een nieuwe post heb maar dat ligt een beetje aan hoe laat ik dan thuis ben.

English: Yesterday was my polish day but we had company so I didn't get a chance to do that. I hope to have a new post for you tomorrow but that depends on what time we get home.

Wat krijg je als je vijf vrouwen bij elkaar zet in een kamer met een heleboel nagellak? Er is niets ontploft! Echt niet!

English: What do you get when you put five women together in a room with a lot of nail polish? Nothing exploded! I swear!


Dupes zoeken! Aan de rechterkant van beneden naar boven: China Glaze C-C-Courage, Nfu Oh #68 en P2 Gracious. Zoals je ziet zijn de P2 en de Nfu Oh perfecte dupes en is C-C-Courage iets warmer van kleur en de shimmer is wat grover van structuur. De prijsbewuste frankener zou wat donkerrood en misschien een druppel donkerblauw bij de P2 kunnen gooien en daar genoegen mee kunnen nemen als dupe.

English: Finding dupes! On the right from bottom to top: China Glaze C-C-Courage, Nfu Oh #68 and P2 Gracious. As you can see the P2 and Nfu Oh are perfect dupes. C-C-Courage is a bit warmer and the shimmer is a bit coarser. The price concious frankener could throw a couple of drops of dark red and maybe a drop of dark blue in the P2 an be perfectly content with that as a dupe.

Kleikleurige, modderachtige, rokerige, 'vieze' kleuren. Ik ben er weg van!
En ik ben vast niet de enige dus ik heb ze een eigen categorie gegeven in mijn labels.
Blubber kleuren...

English: Clay coloured, muddy, smokey 'dirty' colours. I love them! And I doubt I'm the only one so I gave them their own categorie under my labels. Blubber colours...





Dit is Orly Crocodile Rock. Een kerstcadeautje van de geweldige MissHavisham op de Nail Board op MUA! Niet echt groen, grijs of beige en toch ook eigenlijk allemaal wel. Fantastische en vreemde kleur!
Hij is min of meer HTF (Hard To Find / moeilijk vindbaar) omdat het een kleur is uit een oude collectie maar hij is soms wel op Ebay te vinden.
Wat vind jij van dit soort 'lelijke' kleuren?

Dit zit nog op mijn nagels van voor de allergische reactie begon en het zal er dus ook nog een paar dagen op blijven omdat ik niet met remover aan de slag wil op mijn ontstoken huid.

Ik zag op Nails By Asami een heel schattig idee voor een kerstmanicure die nu eens niet rood of groen was en ik was gelijk verliefd! Dat moest ik dus ook zelf proberen!
Sorry voor de droge vingers, dat zijn de naweeën van de allergische reactie op de gel.

English: I saw the cutest idea for a Christmas manicure that wasn't red or green on Nails By Asami and I fell in love with it! I had to try it for myself!

De basis is Viva la Diva #6, een van de lakjes die ik met mijn swap gekregen heb. Een grijze, haast leem/klei-kleurige, neutrale crème. Dekkend in een laagje maar ik heb er twee gedaan omdat ik dat mooier vind.

Daarna heb ik met acrylverf een gingerbread man geschilderd op mijn ringvinger en er twee laagjes topcoat over gedaan om de nagel glad te maken. ("David"! Ik ben nog aan het testen maar als ik eruit ben wat ik er van vind ga ik er een post over schrijven.)

Asami's versie is veel mooier maar ik ben best tevreden met de mijne. Wat vind jij?

English: The base is Viva la Diva #6, one of the polishes I got in my swap. A grey, almost loam or clay coloured, neutral creme. Opaque in one coat but I did two because I think it looks better. After that I painted a gingerbread man on my ring finger with acrylic paint and put two coats of topcoat over it to make it smooth. ("David"! I'm still testing but when I figure out how I feel about it I'll write a post about it.)

Asami's version looks much better but I'm pretty happy with mine. What do you think?


Ik ben aan het experimenteren met mijn DIY light box. Vooralsnog ben ik niet heel enthousiast maar ik heb wel ideeën om hem te verbeteren dus hopelijk zijn mijn foto's binnenkort een stuk mooier!

Zo, daar ben ik weer! Hoe was jullie weekend? Het mijne was erg gezellig met mijn ouders.
Natuurlijk moest het pakketje met Zoya's juist komen terwijl zij er waren. ("Je hebt wát gekregen?! Nagellak uit de VS?!")

English: So, I'm back! How was your weekend? I've had a great weekend with my parents. Of course my Zoya package had to get here while they were here. ("You got what?! Nail polish from the US?!")

Dit waren mijn nagels afgelopen weekend. OPI You Don't know Jacques. Ik ben weg van deze kleur! Het valt me op dat vrouwen hem vaak geweldig vinden en mannen niet snappen waarom je een modderkleur op je nagels smeert. :D

English: These were my nails for the weekend. OPI You Don't Know Jacques. I love this colour! I've noticed most women adore it while men don't get why you would want your nails to look like you put mud on them. :D




Dit leek me ook leuk om met jullie te delen. Dit doe ik over bijna iedere oude mani voor ik het verwijder. I oefen met double stamping, probeer designs en probeer plates die ik maar niet goed onder de knie kan krijgen. Dit is een van de beste tips die ik heb als je problemen hebt met Konad! Als het mis gaat over een oude mani is dat lang niet zo frustrerend als wanneer je je nagels net gelakt hebt. Zoals je ziet krijg ik het ruitjespatroon maar niet onder controle.

Een andere tip is om na het stempelen te controleren of er geen stukjes van de stempel omhoog steken. Deze veroorzaken namelijk strepen als je de topcoat aanbrengt. Als je zo'n eigenwijs stukje ziet druk hem dan voorzichtig op je nagel met zo min mogelijk contact tussen je vinger en je nagel.

Emerald Sparkled heeft pas een post gedaan met nog veel meer nuttige tips. Zeker de moeite waard om eens te bekijken!

P.S. Ik ben wat watermerken aan het proberen op mijn foto's. Irritant? Niet storend? Tips?

English: I also thought I'd share this with you. This is what I do over practically every old mani before I remove it. I practice double stamping, try out designs and try plates I haven't mastered yet. This is one of the best tips I have for when you are struggling with Konad.
If you mess up an old mani it's not nearly as frustrating as messing up your freshly painted tips. As you can see I still haven't mastered the fishnet design.

Another tip is to check for bits and pieces of the stamp that might be sticking up. These cause smearing when you apply the topcoat. If you see them just gently push them down on the nail with as little finger <> nail contact as possible.

Emerald Sparkled just did a great post with a lot of useful tips and tricks for Konad. It's definitely worth checking out!

P.S. I'm trying some watermarks for my pictures. Annoying? Not distracting? Tips?

Ik had een rotdag een paar dagen terug en de volgende morgen toen ik de brievenbus leeghaalde zag ik een kleine bubbeltjesenveloppe, wat raar was want ik verwachtte niks. (Niet iets wat in een kleine bubbeltjesenveloppe past tenminste. lol)

Toen ik hem openscheurde zag ik een nagellak en een heel lief briefje. Een van mijn online nagellakvriendinnen had me een nagellak gestuurd om me op te vrolijken en een hart onder de riem te steken!

English: I was having a bad day the other day and the next morning when I was emptying out my mail box I noticed a small bubble envelope which was strange because I wasn't expecting anything. (At least not something that would fit in a small bubble envelope. lol) I ripped it open and inside there was a nail polish and a wonderful note. Klik op de foto's om ze groter te zien. Zoya Harley is een prachtige lichtgrijze shimmer. Exact de kleur van de lucht vandaag!
Ik ben tot nu toe niet heel erg onder de indruk van de formule van Zoya maar lichte kleuren zijn vaak sowieso wat lastiger en 'kalkig' om op te brengen dus ik wacht nog even met mijn oordeel tot ik er meer geprobeerd heb.

I'm not reallt impressed with Zoya's formula so far but lighter colours are often a bit tricky and chalky to apply so I'll hold out on my verdict until I have tried more.
